So I need a gift for my dad. For father's day I ordered him a case of gourmet Usinger's hot dogs (after a suggestion from this board), and he absolutely loved it.

What's something else unique I could get him?

He lives in Indiana. He's from the east coast, so maybe something from up there? He also enjoys cajun, seafood, and bbq.

My Dad loves halibut and I've ordered some online from a place called Vital Choice several times. It's been one of his favorite gifts.

You could order boudin for him from any number of places.

I've ordered stuffed chickens for folks from Hebert's in Maurice. Not the Oklahoma franchise, but directly from Maurice. They've always been a hit.

The best mail-order food comes from Zingermans, IMHO. Send him one of their Reuben sandwich kits, or six months of bread, or the bacon of the month club. Check it out: LINK Z's offers everything from olive oil & fancy canned Spanish seafood to rugelach, birthday cakes, and lime curd, with stops along the way at heirloom pork, cheeses, and gelato.

Bourgeois Meat Market in Thibodaux will ship a "meat pack" for you. Just go HERE and select whatever you want to send him. When my Dad lived in NC I used to do one for him every year. Smoked sausage, fresh sausage, hoghead cheese, andouille and of course beef jerky...the fresh garlic sausage is killer btw.

I've recently steered someone else in the direction of Usingers. They have a retail store on 3rd st in Milwaukee for those of you flying in for the LSU game. LINK LINK

Cajuns might not know that they don't have a corner on the blood sausage market.

I believe I recommended the brats, but implored ordering from there. The blood tongue sausage is killer. The brats and other sausages are no slouch as you've read. My German father swears by the summer sausage. Every time I return to Milwaukee I'm at Mader's for food, shop the spice house and Usingers.

I'll pass on the hot dogs. I merely steered someone onto some brilliant holiday advice. Usingers hot dogs are incredible, I'm just not into hot dogs.
