I'm planning to make crab beignets tomorrow night and in need of Mascarpone cheese. I went to Alexander's today, where they carry a wide variety of cheeses, but unfortunately for me, no Mascarpone cheese.

Before I go on a wild goose chase tomorrow, what other stores should I consider that may carry this Italian cheese?

I want to believe I saw some at the Fresh Market at Perkins Rowe last time I was there.

Whole Foods?
Isn't it really similar to ricotta?

Call Whole Foods (225) 218-0452. Probably your best bet.

Pocorello 225-293-3737 may carry it.

I believe I've seen it at Calvin's in that cheese bin by the chicken salad.

No. Nor is there an Aldi.

I can get Mascarpone in two locations in St Francisville. You should be able to get it most places. Folse's creole cream cheese is a different, but acceptable substitute.

Matherne's carries it on bluebonnet. Buy it often for cakes.

I don't know for sure, but Trader Joe's carries a lot of cheese including varieties that most other stores don't have.

I don't live in BR, but my podunk Winn Dixie and Wallyworld both carry mascarpone in their specialty cheese cases. It's in plastic tubs, near the presliced prosciutto and Belgioso mozz.

It might have been in a refrigerated section. All grocery stores have it, but I only shop at Calandro's, Fresh Mkt, Whole Foods, Target.
