There needs to be a Rouses in Rouzan on Perkins. Would be a perfect location for them, I think they would print money.

Which Village Square building was the Kroger in? Possibly the old Service Merchandise location?

Yeah a new Kroger recently opened near me and it has about 10 or so taps and wine in the food area. They have a pretty good selection of food and it makes for a decent lunch. Havent really shopped in it though it appears to have a good selection of everything. It is 10 times better than the one I actually shop at.

My HEB (Fry Rd and Grand Pkwy in Katy) is the best grocery store in the world

Yes, yes it is. When we lived in Cinco we went to the one on Highland Knolls and Mason until the one on Fry and 99 opened up, then went to that one.

Now when we go back to visit, we always stay with a friend that lives in Lakes of Bella Terra and we stop at that HEB multiple times when there, and once on the way home.

If you were looking at the Wilson's from College it was a separate building on the left. They knocked it down and Coffee Call moved from the other side to there.

Rouses is building at Lee and Burbank.

That's not ideal, but still pretty damn close.

I believe that there was a Kroger store in the LongBow Shopping Center South of Little John street in Baton Rouge. Used to be a Kmart there on Florida Bvld close to Sonny's BBQ.

Then An A&P opened up there around 1986 and closed around 1990 IIRC.

Kroger was there prob. 1982/83

Stick with me, this story very much relates to this thread:

Today I needed a length of chain for a job up in Zachary. Google maps pointed me to the nearest Ace Hardware on LA 64 / Church Street, but when I pulled up to the store the only entrance I could find was to the adjacent Rouse's.

Yep, that Rouse's is merged with a fully-functioning Ace Hardware store. You can check out a gallon of milk and 3' of cut 5/8" zinc-coated chain at the same cashier line.

Can't say I've ever seen that before. Thanks to the deli it was the nicest smelling hardware store I've ever been to.

The grocery store model is in the midst of its last days. Let's see how these Amazon stores work out over the next few hears - no lines, grab n go with no money transaction. I can see a bigger chain like Kroger doing the same thing and buying out rouses since they are a much bigger operation.

Manager at the Ponchatoula Rouses said a Kroger buy out is TOTAL BS. Went on to say how they are expanding and buying out others like Winn Dixie. Hope he's right because I really enjoy shopping there.

Both my wife and I are vendors for Rouses and we only hear those rumors from the Leblancs store managers in the Gonzalas area. Those three stores lost a lot of loyal customers who are now going to Ralphs and Lamendolas.

Word we got yesterday is that they are announcing before the end of the week that they are aquiring several Winn Dixie's

I've never walked into a Rouses that felt anything like a Winn Dixie. I've actually felt the complete opposite. You were probably at Winn Dixie when you made that presumption

That was a LeBlancs that Rouses purchased. It was a much better store as LeBlancs. All the employees look miserable every time I go in. We've started doing more shopping in St Francsville at the new Adubon mkt.,
