Where do yall get the lobster to put int he mac n cheese or mashed potatoes?
I've never bought or cooked lobster

Quite often, I just get the whole live lobsters steamed in the grocery store. Then, I shell them and use the meat. Or, you can buy some tails and steam, grill or roast them and use the meat.

Cooking at home is the way to go for sure! Make a nice menu and put some flowers out. Much better experience for my dime.

I normally do a 5 or 6 course meal. I've bought a heart shaped ribeye before.

Here's an menu from a few years back:

The salad is a good one and you can change up the fruits or ingredients. I use it a lot as a side to spicy rich dishes like shrimp and grits, for example. It's a keeper and the dressing is easily tripled etc... I keep it in the fridge a lot.

Keeping it simple. Doing filets and have a sack of oysters to eat raw and make Galatoire's Oysters Rockefeller.

I try. My lady loves my cooking so I try and show out for her occasionally.

This year we have guests arriving so I won't be doing anything too special. Although she did mention wanting a 3 course meal consisting only of crab cakes. LoL.

That's sounds like a good meal to me, too. Crabcakes 3 ways. Hmmm, I could see them as an addition to a soup like a boule.

Emeril's recipe for mustard crusted rack of lamb with fig chutney is AMAZING!!!!

I serve it with the herbed cream potatoes from the Pioneer Woman site.

Just a FYI, women's taste buds tend to change during pregnancy (especially in the first trimester) due to changes in hormones and a sort of "built in" warning system for foods that can be bad for the baby. Just something to keep in mind when you're putting your menu together.

Braise some short ribs in wine, tomato paste and stock. Make mashed potatoes with loads of butter, you can even toss in some lobster.

Make it tonight (the braise). Will only improve overnight.

This. Make tonight and refrigerate and you'll be able to pull off the fat tomorrow and then just reheat in oven or on stove.

There is something about the aroma of fish cooking that gets to them.

ETA As someone else said rack of lamb is an easy meal to produce as it is done in minutes and has a beautiful presentation on the plate. Roasted veggies as a side and some duck oil fries if you can get some fat/lard from someone that uses it for normal service daily. Fish en papillote is another thing to consider, the fish and veggies cook in a single pouch and a starch(roasted taters) is an easy thing to pair with it.

All these seem like such great ideas. I wish I knew how to cook.

Rack of lamb problem is the same as a fat steak, best cooked medium or below. The internet tells pregnant women that will kill them with fire.

Lamb racks are almost idiot proof to pull off. Give the fat side a rub down with a mix of rosemary, garlic minced, onion finely chopped salt and pepper and EVOO the above all made into a paste. Fat side down to brown it, into a 400F oven for about 5-6 minutes fat side up. It should be a very lovely shade of rare after a few minutes of resting. All of the other stuff I can literally type you through here when you start cooking and before to get it prepped. Da woman will wonder where the hell it all came from all of a sudden. LIE and don't let her know the source.
