All I can suggest is pack heat. I've lived here most of my life (54 years). Tonight, I witnessed an armed robbery committed by a pack of kids, caught 3 of them, and had them on their knees, waiting for cops. Had 4 different people call 911 and after 90 mins, kids fled and cops never showed. I love my city, but currently, avoid it at all costs.

This needs its own thread

On another note, this is tentative food schedule:

Saturday: Casamento's for lunch
Dinner at Parents

Sunday: Brunch at Atchafalaya
Dinner at Maya

Monday: will be at the zoo. Prolly hit up Guy's
for lunch.
Dinner at Root
Tuesday: Dinner at Peche
Wednesday: Still deciding

Then we will come back and I'll have to fast for a week to lose the weight.

You nailed it, except for I don't think Maya's is open for dinner on Sundays, just lunch. Definitely call and check.

Very impressive line-up!
Looking forward to a nice review of that week.

What are some other good options that have popped up in the past couple of years?

Iris was a surprise, very good food in a good area to bring out of town family and friends.

Rue 127 is Ok, but it's cramped. A friend of mine has been working there since it opened, but I have only made it there once..

Just about the dumbest thing I've read on here.

Sorry you had to go through that little episode, but put your big boy pants on and enjoy your city and all it has to happen. Sounds like a lower french quarter kind of incident.

Going on a restaurant "tour" with a small group, myself, in a few weeks. So far lunches are Casamento's, Domenica and a Sunday brunch at R'evolution. Dinners are Peche and Irene's. Have one more dinner to pick and it might be a more traditional New Orleans restaurant as some don't want to miss oysters rock. I like to slip one of those in, anyway, because I enjoy traditional New Orleans foods from time to time.

You might consider Commander's for a meal if you haven't been in a while. Tory is doing some good things there, seasonally, and particularly in the Spring with local fare. Sunday brunch last year was outstanding.

I am skeptical of the details of this tale. Just saying. Would love to know more.

Anyway, the OP's dining schedule is spot on.

Slow day. Must have been too cold for many criminals to be on the street.

I usually go to Butcher on other visits, but if I was going to be there for a week, it would definitely be on the list. Maybe twice.
