Love that plate. It's a meal in itself

I'd expect this article helps resolve some of the questions about the alleged robbery attempt the other night.

Thanks for the link. Of course, that didn't occur anywhere near (Crescent Pie) the restaurant in question.

That's completely across town. The St. Roch neighborhood is a touch different then Carrolton and Banks.

I'm sure the punks that got caught were cutting edge...no other gaggle of hood rats would ever thought of their unique scheme.

Crime has been prevelant in that part of town for decades. Wed. night did nothing to change my mind of that.

That being said, who would stop going out in what's considered to be a "safe neighborhood" just because crime is rampant in a different area?

According to the story, the "safe neighborhoods" weren't, that night. I do hate to see that happen, but it did, and has, for some time now.

I guess we just have a difference of opinion on what we call a safe area. If you're between Franklin Ave and Elysian Fields, you do so at your own risk.

I walked through the CBD the other night with my college age kid who wants to go to school there. I like to visit the city and enjoy that which is good about it. I like that fact that the city can be a tremendous asset for the state. Why do you care?

My post referred to the crime spree in the Quarter and nearby areas, per the article. I'd consider those areas "safe neighbrhoods", if such actually exist.

Just curious as to your agenda here. OP came for food and drink suggestions and the thread went into another direction.

Yep. Guy posted he witnessed a botched robbery by a bunch of kids. Didn't get much cred for his statement.

Well, as a resident of NOLA, the neighborhoods you mentioned are in fact not safe. The French Quarter often has crime, and the other side of the quarter is a coin flip every night.

There certainly is a push to gentrify the bywater and marigny areas, but it's not a finished product.

You'll also notice I rarely recommend restaurants in the Quarter, they are mostly avoidable(some good places). The Bywater has several excellent spots, but you should be smart when traveling to that area.

All that said, most of Uptown and Mid-City don't have this constant crime. A few exceptions of course. That's why the comment about that one posters experience didn't fit this thread.
