Dieu du Ciel makes some great beer. Thier Imperial Stout and barleywine are fantastic.

how is Canada's beer scene? I know they have Unibroue, which is fantastic, but not much more familiar with anything else.

They have a lot of good small breweries in that part of Canada. Dieu Du Ciel is another that you might have tried or be able to get.

Ok, same question,

Why would i compare randomly selected beers to find which is best? I'd much prefer a larger selection that requires some sifting over a smaller selection which doesn't have half of the styles.

FYI: Fact- Belgian yeast hates me. You cannot convince me that Belgian beer is better.

I'm guessing ol' tom is not a hophead, so he really hates the hop movement going on in the American craft scene right now

frick ratings, they're all biased towards the rare and extreme anyway.

Just use some common sense, the USA is in the front of the pack when it comes to craft beer. Do we have the advantage of being a huge country with a lot of diversity? Absolutely, but that doesn't change the final score.

Per capita Belgium might have an argument. Or New Zealand.

For me:

1) Germany: I love Altbier, Oktoberfest/Marzen, Weizens and Bocks.

2) America: While they don't do the German styles as good, they do experiment a lot and make a lot of interesting and good beer.

3) Belgium: Kind of a one trick pony with the Brett they use, but they make some damn good beers too.

I don't think I've ever had a New Zealand beer.

I'd prefer a large selection too, but if someone says "American beer is the best in the world", they are including all American beer.

My favorite beer nationality is Czech, but it's probably not the best in the world.

Any of you beer folk know the botanical side of the hop? More specifically, how close it is related to a cannabis bud? If it is at all. I would think that theybare at least in the same family.

Some of them make it down here, but most don't manage the journey too well. They have a thriving scene though, and are much more like the USA in terms of styles and creativity.

Then you'd be reading into it too much.

What if someone said, "The best beers are brewed in America". Does that sit better with you?

I like them occasionally, but definitely not my favorite.
