There's a very real chance I could be moving to Dallas, TX in a couple of months due to my wife's job. I've lived in south LA my whole life so this will be a very new experience for me.

What are some of your favorite places to eat/drink here? All price ranges, any type of food. Specifically mexican, seafood, BBQ, Greek/Lebanese, pizza, casual sandwich type places. Any good Louisiana restaurants here?

Even though it is a Houston based chain, Pappadeaux is actually very good.

Edited to fix the first link

Nate's in Addison used to be pretty good and one of the few options. He is from the right place. But the food seems to be overpriced and kinda skimpy these days.

Along with Austin and Houston, Dallas has had a real restaurant renaissance over the past 10 years. Too many new ones to keep track of, and of every genre. Yelp is your friend.

Mexican:
Mia's on Lemmon avenue
E-Bar on Fitzhugh
Tourchy's on SMU Blvd.
Chuy's
Desperado's (old school) on Upper Greenville
Mariano's on Skillman (its gotten pricey though).

Seafood.....well....my advice is to cook your own. Most sea food in Dallas is over priced and much of it is not great.

Louisiana sorta places....

Half Shells in Snider Plaza by SMU is good.
Dodie's (owned by a NOLA family)can be good but can also be meh....several locations.
Some people will say Nate's but Ive never been impressed.
Alligator Cafe sux but people in Dallas seem to like it.

Greek/Lebanese
GG's on lower Greenville....BYOB and run by a Turkish family. Everything is great except the pitas which are dry. I threaten to BYOP.

Pizza:
Louie's is my fav. Its a dive bar with great thin crust and other italian food. Never had anything but pizza there.
Fireside Pies-more gourmet pizza
Scalini's- Usually get delivery from them.
ZaLat- really good take out pizza

Other places

NOVA in Oak Cliff
Ten Bells Tavern (pub and good food)
Small Brew Pub (Really good food)
Libertine (pub, good food)
Good Friend (pub, good food)
Boulevardier (french bistro sorta)
Teppo- Sushi....small place with no pretense and great sushi.
Tei Tei Sushi-more upscale and more of a pretentious dallas vibe but still good.
Ginger Thai

To add to Zappas' list:

Mexican:
Tacos La Banqueta for street tacos.
Velvet Tacos
Fernando's
El Fenix
Mr. Masero

Seafood:
20 Feet-not Cajun but good seafood.
Boiling Crab or Tasty Tails for boiled seafood.
Dodie's is hit or miss. Greenville location is legit for Saints games. Good atmosphere with mainly Saints fans on game days.
Agreed on Alligator Café-not good.

Greek/Lebanese:
Ziziki's
Sevan/GG's
Qariah

Pizza:
Bryan Street Tavern
GAPC
Louie's
Gramaldi's sometimes
Campisi's

Other places:
Pecan Lodge
Angry Dog
HG Sply

Drawing a blank on more places but you can usually yelp a place if you are wondering.

Can second this

Also, meso maya is very good. It's near American Airlines Center.

I will have to disagree. Overpriced Mediocrity.....which means Dallasites love it.

I enjoyed my time at the Meddlesome Moth for a casual Gastropub experience, and really enjoyed my higher end meal at Tei-An, right down to the bidet in the bathroom.
