I'm trying to decide between Commanders Palace or Peche for a Birthday celebration with my wife.
I'd appreciate opinions as to which one and suggestions on what to order.
Thanks in advance.

Can't go wrong with either in my opinion.

Decision would probably be made based on time of the meal; Brunch at Commanders or Dinner at Peche.

NO doubt,Commanders all the way!! Why,well food, service, drinks, ambience. There is no comparison between the two. One is special in every aspect, the other has good food but does not offer anything special in any other area for her birthday.
It's her birthday man, make it special and tell them when you make the reservation

For a celebration event I would pick Commanders.
Let them know it's for a birthday when you make the reservation

I don't find them comparable. One is casual and one is not. I love both. I'd go Commander's if it's a special birthday celebration.

Yep. They are both fine establishments, but really nothing alike.

I narrowed it down to those two because it seems like everytime a Nola restaurant question has come up on here, the top two names that pop up are CP and Peche

Are you looking for food or atmosphere? I prefer the food at Peche, but the atmosphere at Commanders may be a better fit for a birthday celebration.

If these are the only 2 options I'd choose Commanders for the occasion. My wife and I dined at R'evolution on Saturday for our anniversary and were absolutely treated like royalty so that's where I would go if I were you.

By far my two favorite restaurants!

However, for a special occasion for the lady, I say without a doubt commanders.

Commanders and it's not even close. Let them know what you are celebrating and they will make it special.

Thanks for the replies and help. Cassopher R'evolution was actually a dark horse candidate. I was very intrigued by the menu.

So what is reccomended on the Commanders menu besides the turtle soup? I'm open to try anything not very partial to much.

Whatever you decide let us know how your experience was. I plan on doing a review of our time at RR with pictures and such in the next day or so.

Will do Cass. We have a couple of days planned out of trying different places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My wife and I do this every so often. We did a few days around Austin a few months back I should have posted on that trip. Franklins was good but maybe not earth shattering like I expected, we actually preferred Salt Lick in Driftwood. I know that's sacrilege. High points were awarded to Driftwood Estates Winery (her) and Garrison Brothers Distillery (me). Texas Chilli Parlor was funky and pretty good.

Peche is good. Really, REALLY good.

But it's no Commanders.
