I used to mix it with an immersion blender, but now I just shake it with a mason jar.

I got sick of having to used a mug that fit the blender and accidental spills at 6am

Agreed....the good stuff and the not so good stuff are side by side in the Dupuy warehouses on Jourdan Rd. LINK

Someone is grossly misunderstanding my post if it is perceived as anti-nutrition or pro-fatness. I'm at the absolute other end of that spectrum. It's great when people think about health & the importance of what they eat...but not so great when a single food is perceived to have "magical" properties. Of course caffeinated coffee gives you energy, and of course some AM fat consumption will stave off the hungries. But a tablespoon of peanut butter and a cup of caffeinated hot tea will deliver better nutritional value (added protein from the nut butter) without the hype/marketing pseudo science delivered by bulletproof coffee. Or 1 cup of full fat greek yogurt and a shot of espresso.

Junk science abounds in contemporary America, and so much of it is found in nutrition and health.

Guess what happens when two bags spill...

SPOILER:
they don't separate the beans back into their bags

While I definitely don't disagree with you, what do you do to determine whether or not the science is junk? Or do you only back the science that supports your own ideas of nutrition and health?

medium chain triglycerides are pseudo science? The coffee is just a delivery mechanism

There are lots of peer-reviewed studies proving their efficacy.

How sweet is this? I've been looking to make my own, but I would probably skip the cream and vanilla.

The hype comes from the promoter, who sells his own brand of "BrainOctane" oil, his own (allegedly better for you) brand of "Upgraded" coffee beans....all complete with unsupported claims about their superiority and "low toxicity". Here's the website--tell me this isn't the worst sort of marketing puffery: LINK Vague, unsubstantiated claims about his processing methodology being superior, claims that he uses the "#1 roaster in America", that the beans are "handpicked" (all coffee beans are handpicked), the vague "Central American" origin....blah, blah, blah.

When you say Bulletproof Coffee, it's a trademarked brand name...the freakin' home page asks "Can you really lose more than 100 pounds without using exercise, increase your IQ by 12 points, and stay healthy by sleeping less?" (see it yourself here: LINK )

It's pretty much the definition of marketing hype.

No, I do not believe that adding fat to coffee turns it into a miracle beverage that will increase your IQ....

My wife introduced them to me and I didn't even know 'bulletproof' was a brand until about a month ago. I call the MCT/coffee mixture bulletproof

We get beans and grind them but I don't think there's toxic property that I'm taking in because I don't get the bulletproof brand.

Now I actually believe the guys at caveman do get single source. That shite tastes noticeably better but it's 10x the price per bag. They can keep that.

If "regular" coffee is full of mold toxins
Joe Rogan had Asprey on his podcast and then went test some coffees for toxins himself because people were telling him that Asprey was full of shite. Come to find out most conventional coffees didn't have mold on them and that "bullet proof" brand did have some mold. The recipe does work though. It gives me energy without having to eat breakfast and I don't drink near as much coffee in the mornings. One cup and I'm done for the day

Yea, no one here has argued that it increases your IQ or that it makes you smarter. People here take it for increased energy. Not even close to the same argument. If you need to resort to gross exaggerations and fabricating stuff to make your point, so be it.

Those are not MY words...those are a direct quote from the website of Bulletproof. I'm not exaggerating anything--I'm simply pointing out the spurious claims of the inventor of Bulletproof coffee.

I feel like I should make a distinction here. I don't use 'Bulletproof coffee' the product per se. I'm not lining this guy's pockets and have never looked at the website so I don't know what he personally claims. He probably is marketing some nonsensical stuff alongside his product - if he is claiming added IQ than he's full of shite obviously. When I say I use 'bulletproof,' I mean I buy coffee and add oil and butter myself, or I buy that concoction from a coffee shop. And like most people here I use it for an energy boost and the healthy properties of fat. You may be very well right that he's doing it as a cash grab by advertising false properties. All I know is that adding MCT oil and grass fed butter to coffee helps give me a boost when I need it.

So I made bullet proof coffee-not with special coffee or branded ingredients. It tasted okay, if a little greasy. I have not really been hungry today. I did feel more energetic, but as someone said that might be a placebo effect. Anyway I will try it again tomorrow.

lol at the bro science in bulletbproof coffee and grass fed bs

sorry id rather enjoy some ham and eggs and oatmeal for 400 calories vs drinking butter and oil and coffee.

calories in vs calories out. its not rocket science. my neighbor is a fatty and lost 30 lbs on crossfit but still has a gut and about 40lbs overweight

he always preaches about grass fed and certain oils, etc. he makes his own nut mix and eats it all the time with his bulletproof coffee. i tried telling him hes consuming 1,000-1,200 calories when he does that, it doesnt matter WTF its made of

maybe thats why hes a fatty. eat more veggies/fruits and lean proteins and eat well 80% of the time and you will be fine.
