I used to drink Cokes all day long a long time ago. Had more trouble with cutting the caffeine than anything. I started at one coke in the morning. Water the rest of the day. Then, I went to one Coke Zero. Then, I went to one caffeine free coke in the morning. I still have one sometimes, but not nearly every day. I drink water and then I may drink an ICE drink or two. I like those and similar drinks a good bit. I drink caffeine free sugar free tea at night pretty often. I don't mind tea without sugar if there's a good bit of lemon juice in it.

Green tea and Stevia/lemon is good. Good for you, too.

Ween yourself off, you can switch to ice tea to help.
I quit soft drinks back in 2005 and never looked back. They are terrible for you.

Will power is how I do it during Lent. Drink water at all times and don't give in.
I haven't had a coke since Fat Tuesday and I drank up to a liter to liter and half a day of Coca Cola

As others have said...flavored sparkling water or mineral water like Topo Chico are good replacements.
Trouble is you give up the soft drinks and become dependent on the mineral water which costs twice as much. I think I've sent at least 20 kids through college alone in the funds I throw at Topo Chico every month.

I like lime over lemon. No seeds

Change over to iced tea with a little sugar. Gradually reduce the amount of sugar until you are drinking the tea without sweetener.
I was actually taking this approach. Weening myself off of the sugar like a junkie off of heroin.
ETA: and thanks to everyone that responded

I need caffeine free green tea. I haven't looked that hard for it, but I haven't found any. I'm a night owl by nature, so I have to limit caffeine and usually don't drink anything with caffeine during the day and none after about noon or so, if I do drink it.

I bought a few flavors of Mio flavored liquid to squirt in bottled water. I liked the iced tea flavor best.
I keep a Mio at home and work, and it helps me drink more water.

1. Give up high fructose corn syrup
2. switch to cane sugar sodas
3. Stop drinking caffeinated drinks at or after dinner time
The cane sugar fills you up faster, so you'll drink them less often. By limiting them from dinner, you'll inadvertantly drink them less often.
Doing this, you should be able to cut back to 3 or 4 per week. Once you get to this point, you'll start to crave them less, and they'll start tasting too sweet.
Do this for about 2 months, and you'll be able to gradually reduce your intake to zero without really missing them.

I love diet dr. pepper. I think Dr. Zevia is as healthy as you'll get for diet soda.

Drinking diet soda doesn't cause you to gain weight, being in a calorie surplus does

Stopped drinking soft drinks almost 3 years ago. Just stop. Drink more water. After about a month or so, you won't crave them anymore.

I was drinking way too many diet dr peppers. I started running again and a week or two into it, I started waking up at 5am to run. All I wanted to drink throughout the day was water. I do the flavor squirts sometimes but only drink a dr pepper for lunch now. I might have one late afternoon if I'm feeling tired. Hoping to keep it up.

I bought a big yeti mug. Coffee in the morning, water in the afternoon. If you need some flavor, put a quarter lemon in with the water. On a work day, I'll drink 2-3 mugs of water and the lemon helps give it some flavor all day long. I still drink Diet Coke occasionally, but I've always got my yeti of water to keep me content.
