1. You will have an easier time moving those guys as the trade deadline nears.
2. IRL, most older players dont net a huge haul unless they are REALLY good.

I'm unsure about the cutoff date. My two thoughts are a month before the amateur draft or at the draft. I wouldn't say too soon after we draft because we're all still feeling out our roster.

I know we have a whole new crop of players plus amateurs, but this year is pretty meh. I think picks would be more valuable if we weren't thinning out minors talent all year.

Hey papz, totally get your feelings on extra spot saying you can go either way. Didn't mean to sound like a frick. I'm just a little more opinionated on roster expansion.

I think that's pretty much a given. Teams competing for the money may be more willing... the return however, I guess we'll find out when the time comes.

No problem. I didn't take it that way.

The second part of what you mentioned is easier said than done. I've tried to move some of my older players to no avail.

It's only week 5, though. Id bet almost every team is still in that wait and see mode. Im trying to see if Zunnino is going to continue sucking, if Brett Lawrie is going to pick it up, if Ubaldo is for real etc. I'll start looking to fill holes when that time comes, as Im sure other teams will, too.

It's not that cut and dry, is it? Without knowing every roster, Id say the majority of teams have a mix of young and old.

Again, it's too soon to draw that conclusion

I'm hesitant to deal for any older players right now due to me already having some older guys. However, if i get another injury or two as the deadline nears, and feel that I can still win this bitch, i won't hesitate to fill a hole with an older guy.

LOL at Eddie Rosario having a higher batting average than OBP. Don't see that very often.

.286 BA
.250 OBP

Are you thinking we should add two players to the pool EVERY year? If so, thats bananas. If not, why just this upcoming year?

Well I already know that wouldnt fly, but I think something else should be done. Im assuming yall discussed this already, but any reason we couldnt have a total roster size limit instead of it being individually major/minor league roster limits. That change would erase the problem with minor league players being promoted and having to drop either them or players currently on the rosters.

Yeah I'm not for adding any roster spots. Don't really see the need there.

FYI the following players are not eligible to be in the minors:

Coco Crisp (Papz)

It didn't show my lineup being illegal prior to the setting being changed so I assume it's legal. Because we can shuffle MILB players to our active lineup daily, it allowed me to put MLB players on the farm.

2. A player is eligible to be rostered as a minor leaguer until he reaches 400 AB or 150 IP.
a) Players that reach the threshold limits above must either be moved to the active roster or released.
b) Minor leaguers can NOT be on the active roster until they are called up to the major leagues.
c) Once a player has played in a MLB game, he can be moved back and forth from the minors to the active roster until the threshold is hit. Once that happens, the player can no longer be placed on a minor league roster, even if the player is actually no longer on an MLB active roster.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Coco Crisp has more than 400 career AB.
