Is All Clad tri-ply stainless worth the money? That's the max I will spend. Or, can I get something similar for less? No more non-stick for me.
Any experience with this brand?

Most folks on here have a hodgepodge assortment of cookware.

Personally, the All Clad copper core 12" sauté' is one of my favorites. All Clad makes great products. Would I buy their entire line? Probably not.

I have a gas range and I buy stockpots with reinforced bottoms and tall sides, I like seasoned cast iron for frying, eggs, and cornbread.

Nice sauce pans can be had at your local restaurant supply.

Victorinox Fibrox knives are great day to day workhorses.

Calphalon tri-ply is a good value. I'm not saying it's the same level as all-clad tri-ply but it's great for the price.

I'm not a fan of buying sets but I have two pieces of it that I like a lot.

AllClad is hard to beat, but I also like using the enamel coated cast iron sets as well

All-clad has regular scratch and dent sales with good deals. The defects are typically unnoticeable.

I second the calphalon tri-ply. I don't know if you're a member of Sam's but the Tramontina stainless gets good reviews. i think America's test kitchen has some YouTube vids on stainless cookware

I'm a big fan of piecemeal sets...I've got one all-clad skillet, several cast-iron pieces, a Mauviel saucier and an enameled dutch oven (can't quite bring myself to pay for a Staub or a Le Creuset yet). Same thing with knives. If you're looking for individual pieces, there's a store called bonton that has coupons for $50/$100 purchases pretty regularly which, although initially overpriced, makes them as cheap as the All-Clad seconds are typically.

I would do individual pieces and wouldn't hesitate to check out ebay for some. I have tried to sell some Mauviel cookware on there before and was shocked at how low the prices were, so not great for a seller but there are deals to be had on cookware there if you're a buyer.

**Edited to add right now bonton.com has a 12" fry pan w/lid for $85 after coupon code; amazon is $107 for reference**
