Jeep renegade starts under 18k. I will be interested in one. But need to wait to see what people think about them. I know people bash Chrysler, but I haven'thad many issues with my jeeps in the past. Maybe im just lucky.

Jeep renegade. Under $30k and has an automatic selective drive system which switches from 4 wheel to front wheel drive when you need it. Comes with sun roof and a completely removable top for open air driving.

Mazda cx-5 is great. Tremendous gas mileage and decent pick up. We own a 2015 and get around 28mpg around town. Got the touring for around 27k

Whatever you do don't get the GMC terrain. we owned a 2011 4 cylinder and it was the biggest piece of shite we have ever owned.

Engine problems are common and we had it for four major issues before the warranty was up. Glad we unloaded that vehicle.

GMC car complaints

That sounds perfect.

I appreciate this kind of feed back even more than the positive report on the CX5. My fear is buying a money pit.

Honda CRV

I drove step mom's 2011 CRV on an 8 hour road trip...it's the only vehicle that I've ever had to pull over so I could get out to stretch. My back was aching about halfway through the drive. It was the most uncomfortable seat I've ever driven in.

They've since upgraded to a 2014 CRV and my dad says he has the same issue with that one. So much so that they now take his full size chevy truck on any road trips despite the gas mileage decrease.

Disclaimer being that neither vehicles were upgraded with leather seats like the OP is looking for, so that might help. Also, my step mom never drives long distances and is one of those moms that refuses to get on an interstate , so she has never had issues with being uncomfortable but she has probably never driven longer than 45 minutes in it at one time. She loves hers actually, hince the fact she is on her 2nd one.

My sister likes her GMC Terrain. We have an Explorer and love it. Great gas mileage. If we were to have gone smaller, it would probably have been an Edge. Toyota Rav 4's are nice as well.

You can get a nicely equipped Nissan Juke with all wheel drive for well under 30k. Depending on her style, it may fit the "cute" requirement.

My wife and I are kicking around the idea of getting rid of her 2010 Honda Accord and go with an SUV type vehicle. She wants 3rd row seating for when we visit her family or when they visit us. She is wanting us to look at the Highlander or a CX-9.
