Why did wofford leave in the first place? Could've atleast DH for us this year

Playing time, remember, Bryce Jordan was our set in stone DH for this season, then got hurt after Wofford already left IIRC. He also was a 3rd baseman too and Chris Reid beat him out last year only to watch Reid get beat out this year by Smith this offseason. Our OF was stacked this year, he never would have saw time there.

Bryce will likely be back at DH next season, Wofford did well for himself in 1 year at JUCO. Interested to see what he gets money wise.

I just looked up his JUCO stats and he hit .320/6/50. Hindsight is 20/20 but that would have been a big upgrade over Beau this season.

Always hard to specifically translate JUCO numbers over to here. You could have a guy hit .421 in JUCO then be a .223 hitter in D1, on the flipside there are guys who hit .281 in JUCO and hit .320 in D1. Never can really tell.

Wofford was a talented guy but just buried on the chart here which he didnt want to wait out. Again, remember Bryce was the set in stone DH going into this season.

Yeah, Wofford left after the fall. I don't think he was pushed out, but the parting was mutual. He got more PT and it worked out for him.

We're in Omaha.

Good times had by all!

Hunter Kiel drafted in 18th round by White Sox

Little doubt he'll sign, I think the parting is mutual here, with him out, and all signees left on board, we'd be at 35/35 exactly.

Kiel just had absolutely zero control.

Storz I think he could be our immediate starter at 1B if the dude can play a solid defense there (his range has to be crazy at 6'6). Potential 4th batter in the lineup as well, dude can hit it a mile. Worst case he probably will give Bryce Jordan a huge run for his money at DH next season.

And let Woley/Templet battle it out for third base

Are Cabrera or Storz expected to pitch any in college?

I really hope CPM gives him a shot to be a 2 way guy. Has he done that before in his tenure here?

Sad thing is it still wasn't as uncomfortable as watching Beau bat

It honestly still surprises me he's been a roughly .275-ish hitter at this level. The way he can squirt some ground balls through holes and texas league his way on base is uncanny at times. He just looks so overmatched so often but still can hit for a decent average.

To the best of my knowledge, Storz is but Cabrera isn't.

Other guys in the class have two way potential as well, but will probably only be pitchers (Vietmeier and Schroer).

Cabrera to the Padres in the 26th. Given his announcement already, I doubt there is anything to worry about. Just taking a late flyer.
