Sad to hear.
I'd like to recommend you pick up another.
We have a few dogs, and what helps us in times like what you're going through is to have another to be around.

Damn, that's a good looking dog. I feel for you. I had to put my 10 year old boxer down in March and it was one of the hardest things that I've had to do

Man I hate to hear that. But like someone else said, you need to get another dog ASAP...it helps.

That's a dang shame. A good dog is an incredible enrichment. Sorry for your suffering.

The vet is wrong. Your dog will eventually die without your help.

I buried mine two weeks ago. Glad I didn't "put her to sleep".

That's the coolest, sweetest looking dog and she's looking at you like she loves you..

That's what gets me.. How completely dedicated they are to their masters.. Nothing but unreciprocated love and devotion, that you'll never get from another animal or human.

She's a beauty and you should reward her memory with a new dog.. You deserve it.

Sorry for your loss.

Yes this is true, but what kind of person would I be to let my dog, who I care for deeply, suffer?

I'm not judging your personal choice or calling you any kind of person. I don't agree with the mindset that says it's better to kill an animal you love than to try to make it comfortable as it dies naturally.
The reason they don't just die easily is that they want to live. When it's time to go, they go.
I understand the opposing viewpoint.

This will be one of the worst days of your life, but remember the good times.

Damn. I'm so sorry. I have two black labs so this really gets me all misty eyed.

I'm so sorry. I openly sobbed at some time for about two weeks after I put down my dog. Although I was determined to wait a while, we got another dog quickly and I love her just as much. It helps but you'll never forget this one. But it helps.

It will get better but it hurts. so sorry for your loss.

What a beautiful girl (great pics). We've got a yellow lab and don't even want to think about what you are going through.

Prayers sent.

don't put your dog to sleep. she's old. probably has some pain from time to time, but i bet she still enjoys your company, taking a nap, eating when she gets around to it and being alive.

Worth reading for anyone who has had a beloved dog:

Author doesn't agree with me about euthanasia of pets FYI

Also, I highly recommend burying your own dog. I buried mine at noon in Louisiana August and it's the most cathartic sweating of my life thus far. Felt like I was doing her some justice, paying her some respect, not enough for all the devotion she showed us over the years, but it's what I could do at the time.
