I'm starting to think that a thief character isn't the best for beginner players. I feel too squishy, though that's probably normal.

Honestly doesn't matter what class you start with, you make mold any of them to your liking. There are some good dex weapons fairly early in the game.

So they went from Demon Souls to Dark Souls. Is there a particular reason they decided to stick with the "Dark" brand?

They were still a very young company on the block, they had a new producer and were going multiplat... I just think they did it for name recognition, to break into the field.

For the same reason that it and Bloodborne will never be released on anything other than a Sony console. Both Demons Souls and Bloodborne are IPs of Sony Computer Entertainment. FromSoftware was just the developer. However, the Dark Souls brand is IP of FromSoftware itself, in conjuction with Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Yeah, DSfix patches the bugs. As great as From is, the PC port is one of the worst I've ever seen.
I beat the game last and played a bit of NG+.
