Speaking of is there a good condensed version of the story or lore about Dark Souls?

Like an outline or someone wrote a shorter synopsis?

I've never played Demon Souls. And I didn't catch much of a story in Dark Souls, except the intro cut scene.

There are some great YouTube videos on the lore. It is a very deep game if you can pick up on the story.

EpicNameBro has some really good ones.

Also, in Dark Souls 2 you can reassign your skill levels, right?

When does that occur in the game and how much does it cost?

You wouldn't think it on the first play through, but the actual game is extremely rich with lore if you take the time to read item descriptions, and exhaust all dialogue from NPC's. Like Scruffy says, YouTube user EpicNameBro has an entire series devoted just to the lore. I highly recommend watching them, along with some of ENB's other videos. The Dark Days series, and I think he also has a play through devoted entirely to lore. After that I recommend the Prepare to Cry videos on YouTube, and a few others who have made lore videos, just so you can get other people's perspective. Not everyone agrees with everything, obviously.
