In that price range I'd look for an almost new Breitling.

It's all a matter of opinion yo. I think used omega speedmasters and sinn watches can be found well within that range. As of right now those would probably be the two I would look at buying the most if I was looking to buy right now.

Classy? Sporty? Diver? Pilot?

What you looking for? Plenty to fit the bill in so many different styles.

There better be a secret compartment storing the other $2800 in cash.

Why bother for 3k? If you want an actual good watch 5k is the minimum.

At first glance, I am kind of liking the Omega Speedmaster Professional. I am definitely open to suggestion though.

You'll be lucky to get an ironman with that budget.

Can be had for just under 3k. It's a great everyday watch that can be dressed up with the right band.

For $3k, you can find a vintage Omega Speedy, UG Uni- or Tri-compax, JLC Memovox, Rolex Datejust, and possibly a Heuer Monaco. All will last forever and there's enough style difference just between those for at least one to fit most people's taste.

Do not do a Breitling unless it's a vintage Top Time...

As posted above I would go with a Ball. I want one bad but I am a cheap bastard and have other higher priorities on the list right now than a watch, ill stick with my 500$ time piece for now.

I have a Casio Pathfinder that I paid $250 for, and even that was hard for me to justify. But it does have a compass, altimeter, thermometer, and a barometer - so it functions for much more than just a time piece.

But to each his own.
