Agreed 100%.

If you're into the crazy engineering, art, and design that goes into some watches, you should go take a look at the Reference 57260 that Vacheron Constantin just cooked up. Holy shite, it's amazing. There's a very in-depth article about it on Hodinkee.

If no one has suggested it, try an ebel. I used to know a few watch repair guys. They claimed it was the best bang for your buck and not many people have one

Excellent. I've got the ML Masterpiece Phase de Lune. I have been very happy with it.

Check out Christopher Ward watches made in England.

Has a lot of different styles to fit your wishes and priced between > $1000 and $3000 >
I wouldn't suggest Cward in this guy's price range, but I have the new edition of the 43mm C60 Trident and it's a great watch if someone is looking for a good sub-$1k diver.

I'd probably buy an A-type pilot with a sterile dial and a hand winding Unitas 6948 movement.

Probably should have bought it the first time around, but I already had two black faced pilots. Oh well. One day.

Is there much different between Chris Ward and Hamilton? Both have some watches I am very interested in.

Still trying to figure out where that statement from you originated.

I have no idea and I really don't want to read through the thread again.

This was a monumental POS for about 10 years. And they still haven't recovered from their journey into the thin fashion watch market.

I think best bang for the buck is Fortis.

Hamilton uses a lot of ETA movements, and Chris Ward uses mostly Sellita ... and the movements are virtually identical.

Christopher Ward did recently announce their own in-house movement as well.

Good, me neither.

+1 on Fortis. Almost pulled the trigger on one in Boston last year.

I almost bought a Fortis as well, I love the dial to case width ratio...almost no bezel on some of their watches. Styling, usually the date window, is a tick off though.

Man you watch snobs always crack me up. Acting like anything that costs less than a few grand is just junk.

I own about 20 watches. I still have every watch I have bought since I started college 22 tears ago. I have $100 watches and $3000 watches, and they all still run and look great.

Hell the one I am wearing right now was only $100. I picked it up when I saw them on a Facebook ad because I thought it was a nice looking watch, especially for $100.

I love watches, but you don't have to spend thousands to get a nice watch.

I'll predict the death of the company at this point. They aren't known well enough to take on the expense of in house movements.

Unless they are going to make subtle changes to an existing movement and call it "in-house" like Breitling used to do.

I don't know why you replied to me. It's well known that I have $10 watches and $7000 watches. And I enjoy and wear all of them.

I liked the styling of the Fortis so much that it drove me away from Sinn. I was dead set on buying a Sinn, but i was drawn to larger dials of the Fortis. Both of those companies convinced me not to buy a traditional flieger dial as well, I couldn't go all the way to the Fortis style though. I'd wear one.
