Moonwatch all day. That Seiko a jumbled mess and I'd bet 99% people on here don't know what the bezel does and/or how to use it.

I have a Raymond Weil that I get compliments on quite often. It has a white face and a stainless band...so I can dress it up or down. I wear it every day.

I got it for ~$800 but I got a great deal (bought on RueLaLa) and they typically are in the $1500-1800 range.

In that price range I'd look for an almost new Breitling.

Omega isn't even a high end watch.

Okay, His Highness Sheikh Barry.

The Omega here hadn't been serviced in 40 years until recently. It ran about 10 seconds slow per day. I'd say that's pretty "high end" for an affordable watch (if your $200k Richard Mille is running that well after 40 years I'll buy you a Coke). For most working stiffs Omega and Rolex are considered high end. Check out this article "Inside Rolex" to see what makes them special.

I wear a Movado every day right now. I get asked about it all the time. Paid about $800 for it.

I also like Maruice Lacroix...they make several good looking watches for $3k or less...although I personally prefer my Seiko and the additional $2,850 in the bank. But, to each his own.

His post was in response to someone who took a shite on the entire watch collecting world and said Rolex and Omega are the only high end watches worth buying. Brands like Patek Phillippe will probably always be beyond what I can justify to spend on a watch, but to act like they aren't worth thought or don't exist is willful ignorance.

Dude. For the 2nd time, I was referring to the HIGH END OF HIS RANGE.

The OP clearly stated 3-5k and IMO, if that is what you're spending, its not worth getting another brand. It's an opinion thread about a material good, of course everyone has their own ideas of what is best and what isn't.

Chill the frick out man. I like Omega and Rolex, people like other brands, big fricking whoop.

I'm probably in the minority, but i like Panerai as well, but there is no way you are finding a Pam for 3k. if you stretch the budget to 4k you can get one of the base models, and 5k opens up the options a little more. I really enjoy the simplicity of the dials.

If the max budget is 3k, an Omega will be your best bet.

The square, black face Movado will be my next watch purchase. They have a great modern look to them.

Lemme be a snob for a minute: I like the way Panerais look, but right now the PAM 112 is "the" watch for the Dallas/Houston/NYC $70k millionaire Bro, replacing the Rolex Submariner. Maybe in a few years when they've moved on, I'll get a PAM 392 (only 42mm).

Tag Heuer Aquaracer. They have many different looks and styles just within the Aquaracer line.

Many are right around 3K.

At $3000 it NEEDS to make you smile every time you look at it. Because that is all it is there to do.

PAM's are nice, but VERY played out.

They were the rage 10-15yrs ago.

which is probably why Pam is trying to reinvent themselves by going with all in house movements now.

I've met a few people who own Panerais, who can't pronounce it properly. I like them ok, but ive got a smaller wrist so the 42mm is the only one that doesn't look ridiculous on my wrist.

Hate all you want on the Speedy Pro. For the money, it's one of the best buys under $5k.

If the range is 3-5k, why are we talking about a rolex. I don't think they have a single offering in that price range. Could be wrong, but mens watches start in the 6-8k range.

1. I never posted a Panerai. Must've been responding to someone else.

2. They made their name as one of the early companies to produce a reliable dive watch. Hence, the larger dials for easy visibility even underwater. And there's nothing cheap about them. They're extremely well-finished and well-made, even to point of being uncomfortably heavy.
