Upvote for Nomos. The guys over at Hodinkee are huge fans as well, if that means anything.

I'll say it again, a Speedy is a great buy in this price range. I've been shopping for a nice vintage one for quite sometime. I don't get the new-production Breitling love at all. They don't hold their value worth a shite. They're just very bleh. I personally think you'd be disappointed in the long-run. That's unless it a vintage Top Time of course AKA tGOAT.

OP, refer back to my original post. You have a ton of options in this range. Do your research. Watchuseek, Hodinkee, and Woundforlife are great resources. If vintage is your thing, a new batch of collectors can be easily found online. Matthew Bain, luneroyster, db1893, etc

That explorer is a beauty.

The re-editions by omega have turned out alright. But, I personally think the new Seamasters (with the wave dials)are hideous. To each, their own

I really like this one. Only cost me $180. If only I could fix the date.

That'll probably be my next expensive watch I buy

Next watch I'll buy though will probably be an eco-drive with a decent leather/gator strap. Only a couple hundred bones, but I've got to be in the right mood to buy a watch

sorry. Just an opinion.

Still a really nice watch. When you see an old Omega SM300 side by side with a newer Seamaster, you just kinda shake your head. I'm probably biased, as I think the older SM300 are just one of those designs that has been duplicated dozens of times but never replicated.

The reissue James Bond Seamasters do look nice though.

I prefer the newer bands. Don't like the PO at all, but the Seamaster 300M looks pretty damn good. I already have a datejust, and I'm not looking for another small watch, so the Bond is out

Low end- Citizen does some relatively classy pieces that are actually nice.

high end (of your price cap)- an Omega.

High End-Omega or Rolex, anything else is cheesy and tacky.

Lower End-Tag or Citizen

Anything else is just a waste of time/money. Might as well just get a cheap watch.

Kobold builds a very nice watch.

I've been wearing a Tudor Black Bay lately. If I had $3k to spend on a watch it would be a Tudor Black Bay, no questions asked.

A RESCO Patriot would be my second choice.

Same. I hate the bracelet too. I do like the Planet Ocean and Aqua Terra though.

I bought a Casio WR off the beautiful twirling display case at Walmart. Paid $12 five years ago. Been dunked in saltwater and battered in fish slime ever since. Still going strong. No one ever comments on it though.
