Doubt you could say that about Alexandria and Monroe.

C on z, you need to get out of the parish and try other cuisine.

Sneaky good choice. Harahan is tiny but has some places that are killing it.

I'd probably go Lafayette as well, but I worry that it might be just a hair too "one note" to really be the run away winner here.

Considering I am from West Monroe, I would know.

Lafayette is the obvious answer

For what he OP wants...not sure. For best overall food establishments, Monroe wins per capita and probably straight up outside of New Orleans.

This. Lafayette has dozens of places with the same menu. There isn't a food destination city in LA other than New Orleans IMO.

The specialties products you can buy in and around acadiana are superb, but the restaurants aren't anything worth traveling for.

Do people really travel considerable distances to a city just to eat?

Is Royal Cajun the place where I used to buy cracklings when I was driving through Bunkie? Located 'bout mid town on the right if heading south? The boudin was okay, but the cracklings were awesome. Quit eating them years ago tho.

Every time I pass this lil' quaint, picturesque town, I'm amazed at all the culinary choices for not only "upper table fare", to "down home cooking", the Twin Cities reign supreme.

think the problem is Monroe cuisine isn't much different from the same types of food you will find around lower Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, etc.
