I agree. I've known some awesome gay people. I just don't think they should be able to marry each other.

Honestly, the way the liberals won this one was by framing the narrative as: if you're against gay marriage, you hate gay people. Which just isn't true!!

I know, right? I know a lot of awesome Christians as well. We just don't need them voting. It goes against my core beliefs to have people who believe in the tooth fairy decide how my tax money is spent. They should be prohibited from suffrage.

Marriage =/= voting. Bone headed analogy.

Makes as much or more sense than preventing people from marrying.

I do not believe homosexuality is normal, indeed for years it was considered a mental disorder until it was cured by politics. I also do not believe homosexuals should be discriminated against, persecuted or denied any right the rest of us have.

I also do not believe they should be granted special rights because of sexual preference.

A lot of people think that the belief in an invisible man in the sky telling us all how to behave or rot in hell, is a mental disorder.

Just sayin.

I'm sure there are a few, but most gay people do not have any desire for any special rights, they simply want the same rights the rest of us enjoy.

Kinda sounds like Christian logic eh? If I don't agree with you, I'm going to burn in hell for eternity. And if you don't agree with me, I'm pitied for my dying soul. And of course, any non Christian wants to see Christianity crushed.

Typical double standard Christian conservative logic.

Not exactly. It is not don't agree with me. It is you don't agree with God and the Bible.

It has always been this way. The bible states this. Satan has his soldiers working for him too. And Satan could care less if his followers call them self an: atheist, universe people, spiritual people, non-spiritual people. As long as they are doing his work for him (to crush Christianity as you stated) then Satan is happy.

It's not ignorance.

Everyone has some moral code that they live by. That code tells each individual what they think is right behavior and wrong behavior.

What is interesting to me is that those who have a conflicting moral code than your own will condemn you for condemning others' moral codes and say you are uniquely wrong or bad for doing so.

That's a lot of crazy right there. So, apparently, I'm a soldier of Satan (and I didn't even get a t-shirt ) yet I don't want to crush Christianity.

And don't tell me you agree with the Bible. You agree with the New Testament, and only parts that work for you or are interpreted to work for you. You're against homosexuality, but I guarantee you look at women with lust just as much as the next man.

Gay people have the exact same rights that everybody currently has. They can get married too if they choose a spouse of the opposite sex. Most do not choose this. They want the rest of the country to redefine marriage. Gay people want a special right. Marriage has always been between a man/woman since this country was founded. So now they want the tradition of marriage to be changed to include 1.6% of the US population and it should not be.

Was Loving v. Virginia also the creation of a new right out of whole cloth?

"Traditional marriage" has constantly evolved in human history. I'm no gay marriage advocate but traditional marriage now includes a man divorcing his wife and marrying another. Or two divorces and another marriage. Or more. We've never considered that traditional but no one blinks an eye when you hear a man is on his 3rd or 4th marriage.

If gays are merely 1.6% of the population and 1 in 3 marriages end in divorce (or more), shouldn't the "traditional marriage" Christian be much more concerned by that than by an insignificant part of the population?

But once again, here we are arguing tooth and nail over like 4 percent of the population. Let's bend a social moral construct of heterosexual marraige to fit the narrative of a few oddballs.
100% of people deserve civil rights. You can't just leave 4% out because they are different and because it's inconvenient.

The thing is, at least so far, if someone does not think gays should be allowed to marry they have the right to express that opinion and hold that stance. I dare say most people hold this opinion, as election after election would show.

But many that hold the opposing viewpoint wish to deprive them of Freedom of Religion and the right to hold whatever beliefs they see fit to. If you disagree they want you silenced and in a lot of cases persecuted and punished.

How is allowing gay marriage infringing upon your ability to freely exercise your religion?
