re: This is how the Sabot round turns enemies into a fine mist - Hog on the Hill
It is likely that DU will be phased out eventually, not for health reasons but for military ones. It was introduced to solve the problem of breaking through heavy armour. But tank armour is concentrated mainly at the front, facing the main threat; it is thinner on the sides, and thinner still...

re: This is how the Sabot round turns enemies into a fine mist - Hog on the Hill
Do they have any true armored vehicles?
Yes, they have captured tanks and APCs. But we have jets and drones. We don't really need to send tanks (although Iraq has low end Abrams variants, no fancy composite armor or anything AFAIK)....

re: This is how the Sabot round turns enemies into a fine mist - Hog on the Hill
I'm confused.
It's because of the sheer amount of kinetic force that the sabot round has when it penetrates the armor. That energy is transferred into heat, and some of the round and the armor it penetrates will liquify. I'm guessing it also overpressurizes the cabin of the penetra...

re: Navy Seal killed by isis in Iraq - Hog on the Hill
Here's a video allegedly showing Navy SEALs participating in the clashes near Mosul. You can hear one American saying, "No video, no video," early on, but the person with the camera keeps recording. The video is not particularly interesting besides the fact that it shows Americans fighting alongs...

re: Navy Seal killed by isis in Iraq - Hog on the Hill
What I gathered from his account is that there is so much fighting and conflict we are not aware of. Our media isn't reporting very much of it...wonder why that is...
Frankly, most Americans don't care enough to follow every little development in this war. Plus we have elections going ...

re: Fish bone stuck in throat: What to expect at doctor? - Hog on the Hill
This happened to me once. I chugged a few beers to try to wash it down, then gave up. Then I got sleepy and went to bed. It was gone the next morning. So just chug beer and sleep....

He went unconscious with that big signature smile on his handsome face as always. Chuck was Full of Aloha, but was also a ferocious warrior ...

re: What was your hardest undergrad course? - Hog on the Hill
One of my upper level physics courses, either on quantum mechanics or thermodynamics. The former was fascinating but challenging, the latter I absolutely hated because statistical mechanics are kinda meh. I'm glad I had to take the course but I did not enjoy it....

re: Navy Seal killed by isis in Iraq - Hog on the Hill
What do you mean it hasn't started? Have they attacked Mosul proper yet? No. But they've been attempting to move closer to the city by trying to take different towns and villages on the outskirts of the city. With varying success I might add. They've been pushed back several times. Saying t...

re: Navy Seal killed by isis in Iraq - Hog on the Hill
Well the operation has started. They just haven't made any progress to even close on the city yet.
No, the operation has not started. You keep insisting that it's begun, but you are wrong. ISIS attacked static Kurdish positions today. According to what I've read, the US service me...

re: Tell Me About Ally Bank - Hog on the Hill
Hijack question. I don't understand why people use multiple banks for personal use. I have so many various online accounts, I try to consolidate as much as possible into the same entities (banking/credit, phone/internet, etc). Only where it makes sense, of course. I happen to have Capital One...

re: Tell Me About Ally Bank - Hog on the Hill
Is Ally all paid up? It seems like it from what I can find. If so, this seems to put it on the same moral ground as: Citi BOA Chase Wells Fargo Goldman, etc. Or did they do something extra shady?
Yes, they're all paid up. The US Treasury made money off the investment ...
