the glorious thing about the 30-06. by far the widest range of available loads. you can shoot a 125 grain SST from hornady and still have solid whitetail killing power out to ~250yds. lots of people come in for 150s

165. They were out of 150 so I bought 2 boxes of 165 and my gun loved them so I never changed.

federal premium 165 gr boat tail power points
i tried some of the polymer tip bullets a few yrs ago and did care for the way they performed on impact. however, they do shoot flat
i have played around with 220 gr remington core-lockt. they kick more and you loose some range, but they can really penetrate. i blasted through 3 hogs in one shot and all hogs were +100#. that was FUN.

For deer, what ever soft point bullet it shoots the best.

I shoot my great granddad's 742 Woodmaster and it likes the Remington 220 grain very much.
