Had a friend get kicked out of a game for standing a number of years back, and this was in the student section. Don't know if that area just to the side of the tunnel by the field still sits all game.

the funniest part was when i turned around and asked him if he knew it was 4th down, a guy about my age, with what looked to be his fiance/wife, sitting a few rows above the dude screamed out "i'm with you, bro".

i just started laughing. i gave him an air five. i hate stadium nazis, especially in situations like that in a big game.

Not standing is one thing, but anyone bitching about someone standing for one play needs to die in a fire.

I suspect you're not telling the entire story. I bet there was much of the game you could've sat down and didn't.

Maybe the person was sick or dying of cancer slowly hoping to get one last LSU game in?

I certainly understand wanting to stand and have no issue with it in that scenario, but is there any reason you couldn't yell, clap, whatever while sitting down? People act like they are prohibited from cheering while sitting down.

I get annoyed when people stand during ordinary play (and you know what I mean by this) but not on crucial downs (even in the first quarter), when I'm usually inclined to stand myself. In your situation, when someone is yelling at you to sit down on an important play, I would look back to be sure he (or she) isn't a dwarf or a paraplegic unable to stand him(her)self, in which case I would be inclined to cut him (her) some slack. Absent that, I would ignore.

You people do realize that some older people have difficulty standing very long? it's the yelling that helps the team not that your standing or sitting.

The area I sit in section 416 stands a ton during the games and I love it. Last night must have been standing for over 90% of the defensive plays and 50% of the offensive plays. I remember some epic games in the early 2000s where we stood the entire game. If there is a lady sitting behind me, I usually try and sit when people in front of me are sitting. If they are standing then I stand.

it's more of standing because i'm excited that it's a big play in a big game. being rowdy and enjoying yourself at big moments in football games is what makes attending sporting events great.

if you wanna sit on your hands and not cheer, stay home.

Next time fart in their sitting down faces. Maybe they'll stand up with you next time.

If the people in front of me stand, I stand. If they don't I don't so that I don't block the view in front of those behind me.

That said, we stood EVERY 4th down ... and more than likely every 3rd down also. Dude in front of me kept coming super close to whacking me in the head with his elbow.

I thought the general rule was make noise on defense to disrupt the other team, and try to keep it down when your team has the ball. So when on defense and trying to disrupt a 4th and 2, making noise equates to standing up and yelling. In a game like this one, you would think fans would know that it's going to be up and down the whole game.

Dumb fans. I have old farts in my section, but even they know when to stand and when to sit.

I sat in the student section and a group of older guys came and sat in the section in front of me. (If you look at the band from the field, I was at the top left. First row.)
And they yelled the entire game. Then I saw a paper airplane hit one of them in the head. and I said to myself "Well.. now they're gonna be mad".. but they laughed and threw it down and it hit some student in the face and they all high fived each other

I would imagine your 10-year-old standing up is no taller than you are sitting down. Next time, switch seats with your kid. If the a-hole keeps complaining, tell him to stop bullying a child or you will call security.

Then, every other play, stand up in the middle of the play as if you dropped something and you are looking for it on your row and the row behind you.

He should get the idea after a while.
