Pretty positive I'm gonna pull the trigger on a G19. My question is, is the Gen 4 worth the extra $ or would I be better served saving the money and getting an older model? TIA

FWIW I'll be able to get a good deal on either through a buddy that's opening his own shop (worked at Gander Mtn. for years and is branching out).

The 1911 will come eventually. Just not what I'm looking for at the moment, and I'm well aware of the hard-ons here for the 1911.

I want a scary, black, assault pistol to scare all the liberals out of my yard.

I have a Gen 3 G23-RTF2 and it fits my hands perfectly. The Gen 4 would be worth the extra money if you need the backstrap adjustability. I think Gen 4 also has reversible mag release.

If I were to own a Glock, gen 3 or 4 wouldnt matter. I would stipple it like my XDM and do a grip reduction so all of the feautures the Gen4 offers wouldnt be necessary.

It all depends on how the Gen3 feels to you. If you want the ability to get a slightly larger or smaller grip then you should get the Gen4. If the Gen3 feels good there's not much use in paying the extra money for the Gen4. *Although keep in mind that the Gen4 guns come with 3 mags whereas the Gen3 only come with 2 mags so you are getting an extra $30 mag with the Gen4.

I think it's worth it. They feel better than the Gen 3's to me.

Annoying how people always assume 1911 vs. Glock like there are no other quality polymers out there.

I lean heavily M&P but the G19 is a quality gun.

If I remember correctly - Gen 3 comes with 3 magazines, gen 4 comes w 2.
Or is that the other way around?

Unless you're left handed, save money and get the Gen 3.

The only advantage for a righty would be the size of the mag release button on Gen 4. It's twice as large.

I assure you I'm right there with you. The M&P is still an option for me. I've owned an XDm as well. Figured I'd give Glock a look too

ETA: thanks for the info, everybody

i have a gen 3 G19.
Had to work out an issue with a defective ejector when it was brand new but i've ran over 300 rounds since then with no issues.

Get the Gen 4. Slimmer grip and the grip has a better texture on the Gen 4 compared to the Gen 3. I always found the Gen 3 to get a little slippery when my hand would sweat during shooting in the summer months.

If you want opinions on other options, my YouTube channel BigApple0828, is loaded with reviews of some, if you haven't seen them already.

Can't link; on phone.

HK pistol.

Nobody wants those. J/k

I like the Gen 4's much better than the 3's. But I also don't really like Glock's that much. I would look into the Sig P320 or HK VP9

VP9 would be killer. I'd rather a LEM P30, but that's a bit more expensive.
