I wanted to make that argument, but I couldn't really find any biblical precedent to support such an argument. It's one that I would like to be true, but the text does not support it.

1) Sounds like 'hippie' talk from the 60's-early 70's.

2) Sounds like Jesus was not a capitalist.

(kidding. kind of.)

I think it's funny that people spend time debating what political party a King would belong to.

Definitely would not have been. Capitalism is very close to being anti-biblical in many ways.

There is no bright line standard on that word. I.E., I really need your help because I want to buy a mansion on South Beach. Who is to say that is not legit? If you say so then you are being judgmental. And Jesus says no one should judge lest he be judged.

So, send your check for 5 million to Zach ASAP or you are not a real Christian.

Jesus wouldn't support a capitalistic society. You're lying to yourself if you think otherwise.

I support helping the poor, just not the lazy

I don't support abortions

I bet Jesus would agree to both.

Oh and:

Titus 3:9

But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless

Jesus would not support a materialistic society no matter what the form. The form of government is irrelevant. He preached in living life for the next one, not the world we live in now. "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's".

Exactly.

I'm an anarchist, but it's just secondary to me. I just view it as the best way I know how to live out the teachings of Christ here on Earth. To me, it's my minimal expectation for others. I'm called to something higher.

Capitalism/markets are the best way that I know of meeting people's needs and lift/keep them out of poverty, so I support it.

Thank you, you can have a capitalist financial system without a materialistic society. I just don't know what that would look like.

Well, you could never rid it completely of materialism. Some people are just prone to it.

"Set your mind on things above, not things of the earth".

God didn't even want the Hebrews to have a king but they asked and asked for one.

Capitalism vs. Socialism is irrelevant as far as which is less offensive to god. Capitalism is uncaring and socialism is basically saying god cannot provide for you and you put your faith in something else.

The argument can be made that Christians should not involve themselves politically in anything.

Exactly, the Christian religion is an entirely a-political religion. It can exist under any system except for Soviet Communism which outlaws religion and places the State instead as God.

I am sure Jesus would be in favor of letting Caesar take care of everyone. He would be happy letting Caesar confiscate money from the rich and giving 30% of it to the poor while casears organization keeps 70%. Also Jesus would be in favor of over 50% not contributing a dime to the system and expecting provisions from Caesar. (He did curse a fig tree for not bearing fruit) I am also sure Jesus would be in favor of abortion and giving Caesar authority to mandate what people need to have.

Yeah... sounds like Jesus would fit in well with the Demosocialists.
