I'm an enthusiast checking in at
10.5"
8.2"
4.5"
I wouldn't want to get pegged by one. But they are def "fun" guns. They are real friggin fun.

I have an 11.5 in 5.56 and an 8.2 in 300blk

Or you could just get one with a stabilizing brace and save yourself a bunch on the tax stamp

That is what I did with the 11.5"

I'll think I'll be just fine with this one now that it's finished.
And if anybody wants to read more about M4 barrels, M855 ammo, and testing procedures...

i have a 10.5" DI barrel for my LMT upper. i haven't shot it yet and will report back once i do. i really like the 12" piston barrel that i have been running on it though it is a pig compared to the 10.5" DI

So what am I looking for when I look at Muzzle break designs? I'm not concerned with noise direction, just recoil management. I also want something "cooler" than the birdcage lol
How would this work? LINK

I would recommend against a muzzle brake for a 5.56/.223 rifle. The recoil is very manageable. The brake is just going to make it noisy as hell for you and everyone else at the range. Stick with a flash hider, they have plenty of tacticool/mall ninja ones out there.
I'd also avoid amazon if you're a novice looking for parts. try:

I like my BCM comp on my 11.5, been thinking about replacing the brakeout on my 16" with it

Griffin M4SD II flash-comp.

If that is expensive, I'm going to e-slap you.
Eta: not expensive but more than I want to pay

Don't be a poor and put some quality on the last thing that affects the bullet before it completely leaves the barrel.

Dammit Jim I ain't no poor, I am just frugal

If your muzzle attachment is affecting the bullet as it leaves the barrel then you are definitely doing it wrong .

It has an influence on recoil, which is just about the last impulse

Ummmm....wrong.
I actually just posted a link that showed the unbalanced pressure from the standard birdcage A2 device has a definite effect on the bullet during the transient between the end of the muzzle and free-air flight.
