It's important to note he is a Muslim because everybody knows that a Christian would have sold the photo for more money.

There you go. Took out his religion as an act of appeasement.

Surprising so many people focused on that, especially since it had nothing to do with the post - which is about the photographer's ethics.

Thank you all for participating in a social experiment on political correctness.

I think the photographer is full of shite

He definitely is. They showed another picture on the news yesterday (can't find it on google) with the train MUCH farther down the track while the guy is sitting down on the actual track. I'm not saying that he could've saved the victim because yeah those trains are fast, but to say he was frantically running just to alert the driver is bull shite. Also on the news he more or less re-enacted his actions, and he was walking (walking in the reenactment, running IRL according to him) down the side of the platform with the camera in his right hand extended out from his body to his right popping the flash off. No way he gets both of those pictures while doing such.

The guy is standing on his own two feet and appears to be healthy at the point the picture is taken.

Why the frick is he just staring at the train and not trying to get off of the track...like pushing yourself up out of a swimming pool when you were a kid.

Again, look at the vantage point of the photo and the video that was taken before the shove.

The photographer was very close to the incident and could have helped.

Hell, there were several people very close.

Abbassi said that he had 22 seconds from the time the guy landed on the tracks to the time the train hit him.

22 seconds seems like a sufficient amount of time to offer a hand.

Also, Abbassi said that his camera wasn't zoomed in, meaning that Abbassi actually was as close to the victim as the victim appears to the infamous photograph.

Notwithstanding, Abbassi also said that many more people were closer to the victim and never offered help during the 22 seconds that he was on the tracks.

So, essentially, the people of New York are complete self indulged a-holes...with exception being the victim who was confronting a known thug that was harrassing passerbys in the subway just before the thug pushed him to his death.

He's the tragic hero.

Yeah, couple things stood out about this guy. First, the photos are framed to perfection. Second, he was on Inside Edition yesterday and he was acting like he just witnessed someone killing a fly. No emotions whatsoever. Third, he said he had about 20 seconds or so and he has a shot from about 15ft away of the man sitting on the tracks after the initial fall.... perfectly framed. He could have at least TRIED to get there. Lastly, this a-hole is supposedly shopping himself to anyone that will listen which tells me he knew wtf he was doing at the time.

a whole lotta self-righteousness to pick that 22 seconds apart.

i want to know any of you who just witnessed a thug push a guy onto the tracks (and said thug is still standing there) would bend down to help the guy get up with your back to that same thug.

It's dumb that this guy should even have to defend himself

yet he won't tell his story to CNN unless they pay him

Do you believe that he owes CNN a free interview? The same CNN that is callously exploiting the tragedy by selling commercials?

So what? I'm fairly certain I wouldn't have been snapping pictures.

All reports are that the guy ran off.

the picture is so sharp and crystal clear he's obviously diving through the air to the man's rescue at the time.

While true, no one else is trying to cash in on it. TMZ reported that he has been calling every news outlet in New York trying to sell other pics of the incident from his camera.
