Vince this is kinda weak. I'm sure there must be some better police corruption or brutality stories out there somewhere

I'm sure there are, but like I said, I posted this do provide an example that the FBI doesn't shoot the family pets. Perhaps this is due to agents being required to have a college degree! Image: http://i4.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

I'm not defending this mistake but, you guys need to realize that this seems very simple but sometimes isn't. In areas that are high drug areas, the residents commonly change the address or remove them. Also, apartments can at times very very weird as to how they number the buildings and apartments.

Agents can't go into these places and screen them for the raid, it will give it up as they commonly have video cameras hidden for counter surveillance. They also have people posted to alarm the drug dealers that something is going down. They have guard dogs and other very clever security.

The agents are often working off of information provided by a confidential informant who themselves are total scumbags and addicts. They provide bad information occasionally.

At least they didn't shoot the dog. They will pay her a shitload of money and some agent's career will be ruined as a result.

Maybe. The FBI has much higher hiring standards than local police agencies aside from college degree requirements.

I wonder if there are any studies comparing police misconduct between similar cities with police agencies where one has a requirement of college degrees and the other does not.

That would be very interesting and a worthwhile project for someone to do. Perhaps some graduate student in sociology will take the time to research this issue and publish their findings.

I also would like to know what the misconduct statistics are for police officers with prior military training compared to those with a high school diploma or its equivalency.

Which one do you think would have a higher percentage of misconduct?

I have no clue, but I did find this informal discussion on another message board.

I would bet the requirement for higher education would parallel a decrease in misconduct...... but maybe I'm biased.

That's not what I was asking about. I was referring to Vince's statement about military vs nonmilitary with high school/ged level education.

And you need to realize that if the apartment dweller had a gun, there'd probably be one or more dead innocent victims because of the FBI's dumb "mistake" (actually negligence).

I'm almost certain that the FBI is capable of obtaining city records that would indicate the exact location of each apartment, including every window, electrical outlet, water supply line, etc, especially when they dedicate two years to an investigation.

Again, the investigation was conducted over a period of two years. Based on your theory, God forbid they ever have to take any action with 24 hours.

That was the reason I posted this (Germans) article.

With mistakes like this, do you really think the agency and the agent in charge of the raid shouldn't be held accountable?

Grotto guy,

Your post is about as German as the article. It has already been identified as being old, but the purpose for posting was the fact that the FBI didn't shoot the dog.

What kind of discipline do you think is warranted?
