We may have a shot at keeping him for 4 years and here's why. Those NFL types seem to care about one thing only, measurables. TM7 is all intangibles so he may never project as a first rounder as a 5'9" cornerback. Given that and his Tora Tora Tora attitude, I can see him coming back for his senior year to show the idiot pundits what he's made of.

Andrew Luck, QB (Stanford).
We have a lot of good players on defense. I appreciate TM7 and his nose for the ball, but with a PREMIER QB, LSU would win the BCS national championship and no one would doubt they were #1, right this minute and every game this year.

No. Two reasons: he's awesome in all the ways already pointed out in this thread AND if we traded him, he could be someone WE ended up having to deal with (which might negate some of the greatness you get by taking on a good QB in his place). And if he was in an SEC East team, we might have to deal with him twice in the same year.

that was not the question.
If you have not yet seen Andrew Luck, do so.
He's the son of a QB, so he has been mentored in the position from the time he was in the cradle. He has the arm. He has the body.
He is the real f'ing deal.

I know it's selfish, but I got through the offseason by watching TM7s freshman highlights video quite a few times. So no :)

There's plenty of room on my bandwagon, hop on.

Would it make sense to trade TM7 for Andrew Luck? Yes.
Would I do it? I sure hope not. TM7 chose to be an LSU Tiger, he gives LSU. 100%, and he's a GREAT player.
Let's roll with the dudes who chose to be LSU Tigers

Andrew Luck, Matt Barkley, Bryant Moniz.
Quarterback is the only position id trade for. Our defensive backfield is good enough to take the hit of losing him.

Dude's a highlight reel. Always around the ball.

Andrew Luck, in a heart beat.
Our defense would be marginally worse, compared to how good our offense would become.

Turn it around. How would we feel if Tyran Mathieu, or any other Tiger player, started fantasizing about a trade to another team? If we want loyalty and commitment to LSU from our players, we have to show the same loyalty and commitment to them, not talking about other players we might swap them for.

Maybe for a top QB like Luck I would consider it, but no, I would not do it. His type of dominant defensive play is what makes LSU LSU.
