re: Mamby-pamby Wapo writer damns Arya - Shreveporter
her first kill.
Well, her first kill in *Braavos*--her very first kill was the stable boy at the Red Keep, followed by (I believe) a guard or two at Harrenhal during her escape, then there was the Tickler at the inn with the Hound... But she's certainly had wolf dreams (though ...

re: Mamby-pamby Wapo writer damns Arya - Shreveporter
She lives in a world where being strictly good gets you killed.
Exactly this. Her arc is tragic viewed through the lens of our times/world, but in her world, at this point in time, alone with no family (she knows of) left, becoming a ruthless, stealthy, bad-ass assassin is about th...

re: Saddest movie you've ever seen - Shreveporter
Can't help but get teary eyed at the end of Angels in the Outfield, no matter how many times I see it, and the ending of Beasts of the Southern Wild gets to me too, but I recall seeing Life Is Beautiful in the theater and I needed to sit in my seat after the lights came up so I could drive home....

re: Mike VI has passed away - Shreveporter
I'm having a harder time with this than I thought I would. He was the only Mike I ever got to see in person, and with the rise of social media over his lifetime, he was the most accessible Mike, with videos on youtube and his twitter and Facebook, etc. Losing him feels way more personal than I could...

re: What are some movie cliches you hate seeing? - Shreveporter
1) head injuries. One character smashes another character in the head with a frying pan or bat or wine bottle and knocks them out, but when the unconscious character regains consciousness, he suffers no concussion symptoms or brain bleeds or death (Supernatural is egregious. Love the show, but Sam a...

re: LSU player you remember for 'that one play' - Shreveporter
There were a lot of impressive catches made by Jarvis Landry during his college career, but whenever I think of him at LSU, the first thing that always comes to mind is him flattening the Auburn kick returner. And he was a freshman then. He had a want for violent contact that day......

re: **UPDATED**Billionaire Joe Liemandt contributes to Sarvis and to McAuliffe!!!!! - Shreveporter
Doesn't sound very liberatrian to me. This addresses a lot of the major points of the Republican argument that Sarvis is not a "real" Libertarian: [link=(http://barticles.blogs.timesdispatch.com/2013/11/01/cuccinelli-is-no-libertarian-sarvis-is/)]Richmond Times-Dispatch[/link] In additi...

re: **UPDATED**Billionaire Joe Liemandt contributes to Sarvis and to McAuliffe!!!!! - Shreveporter
Contributor has a history of contributing to democrats and libertarians over time. I don't know if the motivation of that person is promoting more socially liberal policies and seeking a means to that end among libertarians or if it's truly just to fund spoilers for republicans but I can say pretty...

re: **UPDATED**Billionaire Joe Liemandt contributes to Sarvis and to McAuliffe!!!!! - Shreveporter
You don't even know who Sarvis is
Well, that's untrue. I've heard him speak, met him and spent time listening to him answer questions from a group interested in hearing how he would address various issues, welcomed his family into my home, talked with his wife at length, and discu...

re: **UPDATED**Billionaire Joe Liemandt contributes to Sarvis and to McAuliffe!!!!! - Shreveporter
I can't control what you believe but yeah, as a registered Republican since before Bush the Elder ran and won his first term and as someone who has pulled the lever for every republican candidate up until Romney, You should believe I really considered voting for Cuccinelli. I was torn for awhile bu...

re: **UPDATED**Billionaire Joe Liemandt contributes to Sarvis and to McAuliffe!!!!! - Shreveporter
You can just lump me in with that stupid group of ignorant voters who got tired of being told to vote for the lesser of two evils instead of the guy who's views most closely reflect my own. Voting for the lesser of two evils has worked out so well for our country, I can't imagine why we would ever ...

The old Palpatine argument... Hmm. If I felt Skywalker was a strong candidate and could be his own man despite the money, then I could consider it. I wonder who is funding Cuccinelli? ...

re: **UPDATED**Billionaire Joe Liemandt contributes to Sarvis and to McAuliffe!!!!! - Shreveporter
If Cuccinelli loses, he has only himself to blame for the sh*tty campaign he ran. He had several easy chances to win Sarvis supporters (even before there was a Sarvis to support) including myself, but preferred the tried and true method of negative campaigning rather than highlighting his own quali...

Should I feel a sliver of hope because there was at least a debate about lying rather than lying being the obvious forgone conclusion? Just trying to feel less bad about the direction of the country... :wah:...
