Five Super Conferences
LMAO at the ACC inviting Cincinnati or Louisville. That will never happen. They would be much better off sticking with 14 schools.

There are rumors that there is an alliance between GA, USC, and UF to keep Clemson, GA tech, and FSU out of the SEC.
i've heard that UK is also part of the pact so that Louisville doesn't get considered.
i have also heard that UGa has told USC that they are adamantly opposed to Clemson which is just 75 miles from Athens. They aren't keen on FSU either because it is just over their south border. They don't want any more border rivals to go w/ UF, AU, and USC that will recruit the state of GA. GT actually causes them the less heartburn because they are already a rival on the schedule, but they don't want them either. But USC should support UGa's interest since we owe the 'Dawgs for their help getting us into the club back in 1990.
VPI will be the logical candidate from the east that the SEC will accept.

I really believe VT is a good choice that shouldn't piss too many off

Virginia Tech would be dumb as a box of rocks if they came to the SEC. They have been to a BCS game 4 times in 7 years. They would have been to maybe 1 in that time frame in the SEC. Sometimes you have to pass up more money for the good of your program and I think Virginia Tech is one school that would suffer greatly in the SEC imo.

VT may be a default choice since FSU will raise the ire of UF/UG and possibly Bama.
Since we already play FSU it's not about being scared. I just don't want to help them get more money. Frick them.

a lot of people think that it is Beamer that is holding the team back. Virginia is a large state (3rd in size behind Texas and Florida) and that doesn't include Washington, DC where they have large presence. Virginia also has a lot of talent. Many VPI folks I've talked to credit Beamer with building the football foundation, but now they have the passionate fan base, they wouldn't mind having a more aggressive coach for recruiting to take the program to the next level.

ESPN may be part of the due diligence. the SEC will never pull the trigger until they have a good idea of what the money would be.

I could see that. Their offense has been just painful to watch for most of the last decade. Hell if he would just bring in a new OC that would shake things up a bit that might get them over the hump.

The only thing is... They don't have anything to do with it. They just want to feel important.

Here's a question. How big of a role- really- do you guys think ESPN (with the creation of the Longhorn Network) played in the demise of the Big XII?
I mean, was it already on the way out, and they just delivered the Coup De Grace? Or did that move more or less doom the conference? Surely this had to play a bigger role that the departure of Nebraska, right?

UT is the sole reason why the big 12 is going down the shitter. Their selfish BS single handedly took the second best conference in college football and tore it apart at the seams. ESPN's involvement was inevitable. If it wasnt them, it would have been CBS or FOX Sports. UT wanted their own TV network and they would have found someone to make it happen.
