all of the ones i've tried has had fruit in it. i didn't like it.
i recently tried bread pudding at the chimes. it didn't have any fruit and had a pecan sauce topping. it was delicious. the only that could have made it better would have been some vanilla ice cream.

White chocolate bread pudding; jazz fest. Google says it's from Cottage Catering.

I had bread pudding for the first time in my life on New Years Day at Commander's. It was pretty good ..

ETA: I have texture issues and most bread puddings freak me out

The bread pudding at Flanagan's in Thibodaux is the beat EVER! I also specifically ask for a corner. Unbelievable!

2nd place is the blue dog cafe in Lafayette.

Double chocolate bread pudding with a chocolate granache sauce at Red Fish Grill. My mom made it at home with their recipe. Pretty damn awesome.

My favorite dessert and I've had it at about every restaurant in BR, as well as the Jackson, MS area. My favorite is Juban's hands down. It's the shite.

may not be on the level of Jubans and Commanders,
but Brunets coconut cream breadpudding is solid

Duff's when it was open on the Westbank back in 1980. the rest of the place was that good but the bread pudding with the vanilla custard sauce was great.

I know the guy who ran Duffs; he's the only person I know who has ever mentioned that restaurant.
