Move the SEC office

Years ago I suggested that the 10 SEC schools that are NOT located in Alabama should ban together to force the SEC office to move from Birmingham. At the time I suggested Jackson, MS. Someone recently suggested Nashville, TN.
I say anywhere outside of Alabama would have to be an improvement.

I think this is a good idea. It would be a good PR move for the SEC. And it would be good for the SEC as a whole. If they were listening, I'd suggest a few non-SEC southern cities - like Orlando, Tampa, New Orleans, Miami, Memphis, Louisville, even Atlanta as possible relocation spots.

Where would it go? Move to TN...then any call that favors UT gets the "SEC office in TN" treatment. Move to Mississippi...same thing. We need better refs.

Out of the states with SEC ties, or use other conference officials, or use a Nation-wide group of officials, or use people from the slums of New Orleans, at least they would be more ethical.

And admit that all of this time there has been corruption.
Seriously?

Any Southern city with a decent airport.
Tampa, Miami, Dallas, Nashville, Memphis, Atlanta.

Yeah but Ole Piss and Moo State need all the help they can get.

I like Dallas or Houston. Somewhere neutral. Some place with no ties to any of the schools.

Move it to Nashville. As a matter of fact, let Vanderbilt rent some office space to the SEC. Vandy will never win shite, and this conspiracy issue will perish.

If you move the office, move it to a city with no SEC school, like Atlanta. But really, the league needs to insure that (1) no official works a game in which a school he attended is playing and (2) no official works a game involving a team from the state where he lives. This would be mainly to avoid the claims of bias. Then, because fair minded people still screw up, make a point of picking only the best officials, pay them well, openly review their work game to game, and fire those that don't do a good job. With a 3 Billion dollar a year TV package, this would seem to be no real financial problem. By not doing something like this, the league seems to be admitting some sort of intent to influence games.

Knoxville is too close to Nashville. That's just what we need to hear, "Rocky Top" playing throughout the land.

It's WAY past time for moving the office out of corrupt Alabama. This has been a topic of discussion for many years now and it's time for it to happen. It's the only way to begin to clean up the conference's reputation of favoritism and "paying to play." Nashville would be okay with me. I think it's about 3 hours or so from Knoxville and let's face it people, no school has the reputation for cheating more than the Alabama schools. Any city outside of Alabama would be an improvement. Vanderbilt has an excellent reputation, move it there and bring someone in to administer the conference with an impeccable reputation and no ties to the south. Refs definitely need to be handled by a national governing body where refs are rotated around the country, are paid professionals and are more accountable. The bullshite we have for refs now who consistently favor some schools is ridiculous at best and on the take at worst. Time for big change in the SEC.

I concur with this idea.

Rotate it every other year to prevent allegiances from building up in-state over time

Move it to Starkville! I bet they would make sure that the things were done right if the punishment would be having to live there! Also make all officials who make awful calls to have to reside there for a year!!!!

yes, but if they made really bad calls I think having to live in Starkville for a year would give the officials a reason to make better calls
