We hired a DL coach with a sketchy past. We are going to give him a 500% raise when nobody else wants him. Would you hire Nichols States head coach because that was the last school that wanted any to do with him.

If O was legitimately the best candidate interested in the job the majority of the board wouldn't be that upset. The problem lies in nobody else was given a chance. Alleva shot for the perceived two homerun hires with ZERO attention given to anybody else. It reeks of laziness and incompetence.
There are ALOT of good coaches that would win big at LSU and no contact was made to any of them.

Forget Herman. If he didn't want to come here then that's that.
But I can already see that Herman will be a popular strawman for the O contingent. If you take Herman out of this, there's still no fewer than 5 coaches that should've been on Alleva's short list. The fact it was Jimbo, Herman or O and no one else is mind boggling.
Ask yourself one simple question; did LSU hire the most accomplished, talented coach available on the market that was willing to come to LSU? If that answer is no then Alleva is very obviously derelict in his duty as athletic director.

That's another thing I don't get. O wasn't going anywhere. We had 2 targets and a fall back plan. We weren't getting threatened by another school to take O.

I believe he will keep Aranda and get rid of Miles residuals. He's going to bring in a super talented recruiting class. He didn't do a terrible job as IC. Guice singlehandly lost the Florida game. One dimensional teams with no QB isn't beating Alabama.
If he fricks it up, I'll be one of the first to say I was wrong, but I'm not sitting here speaking in absolutes and saying the program is finished. I'll be on the fire O bandwagon. I don't think it's the worst hire at all.
But since I'm not on the "I hate everyone and everything LSU because they hired him," we are the idiots?
