Only difference is A&M would just match or beat the offer. OU is not in nearly the same financial position A&M is.

LSU is not getting him it's a dream nothing more. OU would be absolutely stupid not to match everything LSU offers when by the time they move to SEC they have Riley who's a great recruiter and remove their few disadvantages right now preventing them from a championship. You throw everything at him to stay and they'd be dumb not to. If Woody hired Riley he needs a position somewhere in politics because that's a hell of a sell job.

BR is worse and it's not even close. LSU's campus is like a porsche surrounded by the ghetto. LSU's campus is the only thing good about the city of BR.

It’s not that. OU oil & gas boosters are just as equipped to match an LSU offer as anyone. The difference is that the OU athletic program prides itself in operating conservatively/well in the black, and apparently the AD would think long and hard about whether to match the offer and risk that reputation (even though we know it’s the boosters that finance it).

It’s at least partially a political motive, and OK is the most politically/fiscally conservative state in the country.

He said OU prides itself on not overpaying coaches and he’s not sure if it would match LSU’s best offer

This is what happens when youve had 20+ years of good coaches. You forget what its like to have a bad one and take it for granted. What ADs need to understand is you cant afford to not have a good football coach. Football is the cash cow that floats the whole university.

Posters don’t know whether Petersen’s been offered or not. He may have been and Woodward’s trying to convince him to come.

OU's move to the SEC may cost them their coach. They'll have to choose between keeping Riley or paying the massive buyout to leave the Big 12-2 dumpster fire early.

False. Joe burrow owned him. Like he owned everyone he faced except Auburn.

Well that’s just demonstrably false. There are some very nice neighborhoods in BR. Is some of it bad? Sure, but there are still a lot of nice ones that I’d bet you couldn’t afford to live in.

Also, that OU team had to be tailored around Hurts, putting a lot of focus on the run. Blackledge called it when he said that wasn't a team that could put up points in bunches because of their style, it had to be from the pass and he wasn't sure they could do that.

As long as he can bring in a good defensive coordinator and other staff, I’m all for it.

Both schools can probably pay the max that anyone is willing to pay a coach right now. I mean we're talking schools that both have billionaire boosters.

Other than money, I also think quality of living and ties to the school might matter.

I don’t know much about the quality of life, etc. at Oklahoma is better, but he’s lived most of his life in Lubbock, TX, which is right next to Ok.

As far as ties go, he’s coached at Oklahoma since 2015 and been head coach since 2017. Not very long really.
He has a young family (one daughter looks to be no older than 2 or 3 years old). Not like they have too many ties holding them down.

IF he comes here, I think the current CFP rankings are going to be a bigger factor than pay.
