About that…OU is joining the SEC. The days of no competition are coming to a close.

I would not be upset at Woodward if he threw Jimbo money at Riley. He’s worth it. Look at our last two coaches who won titles, Riley is ten times the football mind. OU is a good job but they don’t have the recruiting resources that LSU has.

Riley can come to LSU and win right away. frick a rebuild.

Very good point there! Very similar situation. I like our chances. It will at least result in OU having to pay him a shite ton.

Nothing big was said. He said it was unusual for him to miss a press conference. He said he didn’t think Riley is going anywhere.

I’ll believe it when I see it. He’s got it made where he’s at and even though LSU may be a top 5 job, OU is still a top 10 job.

If LSU really offers $12m OU will have to match to keep him. No one knows if they will.

We offered Marcus freeman more than ND and he still chose ND. Sometime it isn't about money

This is a different situation because $12 mill is a hell of a lot more than a DC salary but Riley is making $7/8 right now I imagine OU can pony up to $10 and he would be content with that.

I mentioned in the coaches board but I have a family member in the athletic department

He said he would very shocked if he left for lsu

People don’t realize how close he is with Stoops and Switzer. He’s very grateful to Stoops for giving him his first HC job

Not to mention he has 2 more years in a JV conference with a Heisman QB. And a NC contender this year.

They can pay and he already makes 7.5

What's his buyout if he leaves for another job?

With no real competition all the way to the playoffs!

Exactly. His cons are

1. Can’t win big games against real competition (Dave Aranda OWNED him in 2019)
2. Can’t recruit defense
3. If he can’t run the ball, his offense plays down to competition.

Not saying he’s a bad coach, but he DOES have weaknesses that raise eyebrows when discussing 12M

All this chatter will probably get Riley a nice raise. OK is coming to the SEC just don’t see him flipping to LSU in advance of that.

I wouldn’t blink at offering Riley $15m.

That will be the norm for elite coaches in the sec once the tv rights renegotiation money hits (not even factoring in cfp expansion).

Has anyone been to Norman, Ok ? He would leave for the right deal.

We are paying O $9m and get $20m per year more from the tv rights renegotiation. Spend 1/3 of that on an elite head coach (on top of what we are already paying).

I've been to Norman and the LSU campus is beautiful compared to OU's but I can't say that the city of Norman looks any worse than Baton Rouge.

Get rid of Alex Grinch and this will change. And recruiting LA will help.

I haven’t followed OU at all in the past but were their defenses bad under Bob Stoops?

I just think it was the trajectory of the entire Big 12. They all went hard with high power passing offenses and defense generally got ignored.
