Mal Moore and PBJ gave Saban what he asked for. Whatever he needed he got and everyone got out of the way.

Nick Saban runs that football program..I just don't see the Good Ol Boys in Austin letting that happen.

Honestly, I didn't expect the Bama boosters to take the back seat. I'm glad they have.

The only thing that annoys me about all this is the claims that UT is so much more a destination job than Bama. I don't care for most Bama fans (seriously, almost all of them suck amazingly bad), but it's one of the most storied programs ever, and they have money, even if it's not what UT has. But having money doesn't change history.

If he leaves, it's not for the goal of succeeding at a prestigious football school. He's already done that. It would be for money and the challenge of succeeding at three different great football schools.

Trust me, Texas wants to win and they will give Saban the keys to the kingdom.

What makes you think alabama is so much smarter than texas in being able to do the same.

Well, honestly all Texas has over 'Bama is money...

and it's not in Tuscaloosa

and less trailers...

and less toothless hillbil-- Oh wait, that's Tennessee. Less toothless redneck fans.

Less booster involvement... oh wait, they actually have a LOT more of that these days.

Did I forget anything?

You get the point.

I think it's less a matter of intelligence, but more a matter of people not wanting to give up power now that they've had their hands in the cookie jar.

The main difference at Bama is that we've been burned pretty badly by boosters, and a lot of their involvement has amounted to jack shite in terms of football success, so they were relatively easily pushed aside. I don't know how easily they can dump off even richer boosters at Texas.

Maybe they can, though.

a likely candidate to replace Brown?
If not Saban, could it be former USC HC Ed Orgeron?

You're not going to get me to defend Bama too much, and I would enjoy the sweet relief of a division rival not having one of the greatest coaches ever (and just a little amusement of the meltdown on this board and throughout my Bama family), but I think Bama is just as good of a job as UT. He will not be beloved more by any other fanbase. It's theologically impossible.

But money is all powerful, so who knows.

I did not say or imply that. Maybe you replied to the wrong post?

I think you make an interesting point.
But, evidently the richer boosters at texas appear to be having a hard time getting rid of MB...just saying.

If Mack is the reason that Texas doesn't get Saban, shaggy bevo will be glorious.

I wouldn't ask that you deprive yourself of that.

Some of our posters can be pretty reasonable on here, though..

There a few good ones here, and I certainly try hard not to let terrible message board posters determine my opinion of real life fans. I've seen and know my fair share of great Bama fans and awful ones in real life too.

And yes, I know several great and several terrible LSU fans as well. I don't trick myself into believing LSU has all good fans, or that all Bama fans are bad. We all have, and will always have, our bias for our own team's fans.

They are already starting to blame Mack for not getting Saban.
