Fox is reporting that Mack is denying that he is resigning.

I know things are moving fast, but that was his quote from the Alamo presser at 10am this morning

IMO, they will be forced to fire Mack. He's not going down without a fight.

Saban's not going.

Mack resigning or Mack fired = same result.

Are we sure he is resigning tomorrow? Just saw he won't meet with the AD and Pres till next week.

The longer Saban leaves that new contract from UA sitting on his desk collecting dust,
and the longer he doesn't officially announce his intentions of staying at Bama at a presser,
the greater the probability he will take that big, fat Texas offer.

I've said this before, Saban will not announce a move to Austin until Mack Brown has resigned and is out of the picture.

Yeah, but they are still running that tonight and no new information was gathered by their crack reporters all day long.

Well, this is obviously one of the worst kept secrets ever--Brown is in serious denial. He is one of the poorest informed coaches around if he thinks there is a chance Texas will keep him. He needs to face reality.

Speculation about this almost certainly being his final season at UT started after the two out of conference losses to BYU & Ole Miss.

This just in, literally
quote:

Texas president Bill Powers and head football coach Mack Brown were tenatively scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss the coach's job status. But the UT System Board of Regents spent much longer in a closed-door session that anyone anticipated, and the Powers-Brown meeting was delayed until Friday.

quote:

Powers composed himself in a room just off the main floor and then address reporters. He was asked about Brown's status and a potential meeting but declined to comment, saying it wasn't an approprirate time.

A report on Fox said that behind the closed doors today, the current President who is a big Mack ally was given a vote of support and is safe "for now." Genro will probably start a thread on it if he hasn't already.

IF Saban were to call a press conference tomorrow and make a big fanfare about re-signing with Alabama
You UT people should boycott every single source that got your hopes up.

Could happen, there are rumors out there of exactly that he has a lot of big time recruits in town.

I think we need to look into who Plan B is,just in case.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brown has the goods on someone or something. I wouldn't be surprised if some bullshite gets leaked the media if they force him out.

Yes, Saban has a large number of recruits visiting Bama this weekeend, starting tomorrow. That's why this has to end tomorrow. I think he signs the extension with Bama, making him the highest paid coach in CFB history, in front of all those 5 star recruits. What an impression he will leave.

So much infighting going on ...doesn't sound like the kind of situation Nick Saban likes.

Can UT really give Saban the keys to the program? I doubt it. EVERYONE meddles there.

I said that a few weeks ago. I think UT's culture is they want a politician who is a butt buddy of the big money donors, not an assassin who can do what he wants.

And Saban isn't going to be like that. They won't be able to tell him what to do.

At Alabama he has control. He gets what he wants. And he gets results.

UT seems to have booster problems. Every school hits a point where a few boosters think they run the program. That usually leads to infighting and political horse shite.
