You idiots talking up michigan....how fricking quickly do you bastards forget that it wasn't long ago they were turned DOWN by every coach worth a frick for untold reasons. Jim harbaugh only went there because he is a Michigan guy.

Let's not act like Michigan's lore attracted anyone.

That job is not better than lsu and it is ignorant to try to argue that.

Who cares how much endowment they have. It has zero to do with winning at football

I would love to back you here but I can't! Yes Michigan was a dumpster fire under Rich-Rod and Hoke but if you don't think they are a HISTORICAL top 5 program well there is a quote out there that fits you perfect "you can't fix stupid!"

No, it's ignorant to act like LSU is some enormous job.

They are on a decline in the last 5 years. Consistently lose Top talent to other schools. Haven't LEGITIMATELY been relevent on the national stage since 2011 (if you're honest with yourself, this is obvious; you can't beat Bama, you aren't on the national stage anymore).

LSU was in a better spot when Saban left, only a couple years removed from a national title, and could only get Les Miles.

How the hell are they a Top 5 job now, when they haven't been a legimitate National Title contender since 2011?

Bad athletic directors who have chosen bad head coaches.

LSU has lost top talent to other schools, but recruiting hasn't been the problem at all. Finding a way to get the ball to our depth of talent has been our problem. As much as I like Les, he was given a directive and completely ignored it. He had to go.

LSU is a community college compared to a school like Michigan. That does matter. Their endowment is 4x LSU's. Their alumni base drawfs LSU. Nothing to be ashamed of, but to say otherwise is you just being a homer.

This. Michigan is a national brand, kind of like a Texas-lite.

In terms of being a national brand, and having fans everywhere, they are probably only behind Texas and notre dame, and above the likes of USC, bama and Ohio state.

Many people on this board have no national perspective.

Neither is LSU currently a top 5 program. Take your pick. My comment was more to address the ESPN commentators who said that LSU is a Top 5 program. Of course, it was a bit overstated, and the rantards took it as gospel.

As stated prior, LSU's relevance on a national scale didn't juggernaut until Sabsn win the NC. Even when they were considered "good" back in the 80s, they weren't elite. Seemed like every time they did well they'd play Nebraska in the bowl and get shellacked. The fact that we hadn't won it all since 1959 just shows how far behind we are in the "historically speaking" category.

Your a dumbass LSU has been top 5 since 2001 on. A few down years in between does not change that. Michigan was not top 5 for over 10 years but you still list them because of past history. Oh and LSU was top 5 all through the 60s.

Why is it a big deal if they're not top 5 but top 10? It's virtually the same thing.

We're top 15 - 20 from historical perspective. Probably the same at present. Given our facilities and recruiting base, our potential is much higher as Saban, and Miles to an extent, proved.

IMO, he's trying to plant the seed that we need to hire Ed Orgeron.

ETA: And even as a top 10 program, we do not need to hire Ed Orgeron.
