While Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar received a temporary restraining order earlier this month that opened the door to him playing for the Volunteers next season, the 24-year-old won't be eligible for the 2026 campaign, after all.
A Knoxville judge denied Aguilar's preliminary injunction for another year of eligibility, according to multiple reports on Friday.
Aguilar can request an interim appeal, according to On3's Chris Low, who also reported, however, that the appellate court doesn't have to grant it.
Aguilar will now attend next week's NFL Combine, per Low and ESPN's Pete Thamel. Tennessee is poised to have a new starting quarterback for the fifth season in a row.
