We always get business class seats. Makes storing your luggage easier as it isn't as crowded. Trnitalia or Italiarail sites are both fine for booking.

It gets jammed waiting for the vaporettos at the Santa Lucia train station for sure.
I’m also amazed not more people get seriously injured getting on / off the water taxis considering slippery steps and varying heights due to tides. Taking a water taxi on a foggy morning to catch a 6:30 am flight could keep you up at night. :)
