I'm probably not getting the XL either, unless the 3 XL is just a homerun. I've never been a fan of the phablet format. Too big to be a good phone, too small to be a good tablet.

I'm sitting on an old Moto until October - I'll either get a discounted 2 (or 2 XL) or be an early adopter of the 3/3 XL - just depending on my mood at that point.
