Unable To Login To MacBook Pro

I am having an issue with my computer where I type my password into my MacBook and it will not login even though it is the correct password. I hit enter and it shows up as a character (dot). I took it to a repair place in Hammond to reset the computer, but it reverted back to doing this same thing a week later after it restarted. It seems to be typing in a different language or text perhaps. I think that this may be 1 of 3 things.
a. the update since this computer is from 2011
b. a virus
c. I was hacked
I really don't use my laptop except for uploading and storing pictures. I use an iphone or ipad for everything else. If anyone has any advice on how to remedy this as in resetting the computer, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, is it possible to use my MacBook without a password to login? Is a login password compulsory now?
Thanks,
Steve

Only thing I can think of right now is to zap the PRAM and see if that resets it for you.
the machine has to have a password - for you to authorize installs and updates. But you don't have to use a password to login - in your Preferences - go to "Users & Groups" - under "Login Options" at the bottom, set your user name to "automatic Login".

It is only problematic with the system login. I will use your advice after my next reset to remove the password from login all together.
Thanks

It makes a nice doorstop.

Who did you bring it to in Hammond?
