T-Mobile - Your data is going unlimited.

So wife and kiddo both got a text from TM that they are upgrading their 6gb simple choice plan to unlimited data on 3/16/19 for no additional cost per month. I wonder if this is a interim step to increase the monthly service price down the road.
Currently plan, 2 phones, unlimited voice/text and 6gb of data for $35 a month per phone.
"Your data is going unlimited.
On 3/16, we’re upgrading your voice lines to unlimited high-speed smartphone data at no extra cost—just for being a loyal T-Mobile customer. With this upgrade, your Data Stash® will go away, because with unlimited high-speed data there’s no need to roll your data forward."
