Anyone have this OLED set? My local BB just put their 55" demo up for sale. It's selling for $2299 everywhere. I walked out paying $1056 and they threw in a 2 year warranty.

It's missing a remote, stand (wall mounting so don't care) and manual but the remote is on Amazon and eBay for around $40. I've already downloaded the manual. Good deal or real crap shoot?

I'm giving my Panasonic TH-50PZ800U plasma to my daughter for her apartment at OU. Had it for 13 years of perfect HD until recently when the house cleaner decided to use some chemical counter spray on the screen and caused a little streak in the outer screen in the upper middle by messing up the anti-reflective coating. Of course, that's where sky scenes are and that's when it shows up.

Anyway, at almost $1200 off, I couldn't pass it up. I was actually there to get the Hisense 55" 8UG ULED (same as QLED) , but that was $999. This was only $57 more.

I usually love a good store demo TV deal, but a demo OLED was a no go for me. Those stores tend to max out the brightness and keep them on all day and night.

I had them set it up, turn it on, took it out of store demonstration mode, connect it to the store internet and then I connected to some test patterns on YouTube to get a full white screen to see if there was any burn in. It was clear and smooth.

After that, my only concern was the hours. They had a Geek Squad guy there who came over, used a remote and put in a code to bring up a service menu. It showed it had only 43 hours on it and had been cycled on 19 times. Nobody definitely knew if it had been returned for repair or if it was returned to get something else, but they did tell me that Best Buy DOES NOT sell Sony, LG or Samsung display models that have been up in the store, saying that those companies provide for the displays in the stores, and that those manufacturers have their own crews responsible for those display walls and stands, and they pick them up and trade in new displays. They're never Best Buy's property to sell. Those sets are sold as manufacturer certified refurbished through other channels. They said if I ever see a display up like this was (it wasn't turned on) that's marked down and missing a stand or remote it's always a returned item from a customer, not a display model. That was comforting, at least.
