Need Laptop/PC for recording gameplay

Looking to record and edit some gameplay for YouTube. Just as a hobby ( I play a lot of COD ).
I’ve got the capture equipment needed to record, however, my laptop ( 8 year old MacBook Air ) is only recording at 3FPS. That’s obviously not gonna cut it. It’s also to old to update. I’m very ignorant when it comes to computer stuff. Any recommendations for a replacement laptop or PC? Basically it’s main purpose will be recording and editing gameplay. I’m also not looking to spend a ton of money, I’d say less than 1k.

You shouldn't need a totally separate machine for this if you game on a good machine.

I play on a PS5. Honestly seems like it would be easier to sell my console and switch to PC
